Card came in today and wow, its quite a nice looking card. My sons doesn't look like this. Maybe it did and has been messed up from use. So this is going to be my daily driver for gas and such for gas and stuff.

congrats on receiving your card. I'm waiting on my Bofa cash rewards to come in the mail. how many days did yours take to get to you? I'm pretty anxious to see how the card looks in person. Everyone's been saying the the online pictures on their site doesnt do the card justice and the card looks different and better in person? Heard it was more glossy and shiny? lol Post a pic of it!
10 days exactly but that was with the holiday. It is very shiny and glossy. Its irridescent.

So, I am only reading this because it is posted on this site, I didn' t go dumpster diving and stumbled upon it.
Yet, it "Screams" at least in my mind: Impulse Control Issues.
What is going on?
If you need help, put your smart phone in a large Tupperware container, fill it with water, and FREEZE it.
Or if is a laptop, toss it into a Rubbermaid tub, fill it with water, and FREEZE it in the Sub Zero Freezer you have in your garage.
But you can't continue submitting applications for credit cards, regretting it, and then posting that you already have 28 cards in your possession ! ! ! !
Headline: Approval after recon - Immediate regret
Like an idiot I app'd a "preselected" offer for the Cash Rewards Visa. Got the 30 day notice. Got mad at myself for falling for this "offer" and called in. 1-800-601-3923 which is for business recons but the guy transferred me to personal. Talked to another guy and he approved it for $500. 20.74 APR. A wasted card until it grows but I guess atleast its not a HP for nothing. I regretted apping as soon as I hit submit. My first approval I was not happy about. I think I am going to freeze my reports so I don't app anything else.
@MyLoFICO wrote:I don't doubt it is a good card and will grow. My son has one and loves it and his has grown nicely. What makes it virtually useless to me is I didn't need it. I have 28 cards already. I wanted it, didn't need it and should not have app'd it. That is my only regret.
I'm really at a loss here.
..
I had the same thought after I read the initial post. I just cant understand why many have as many as 28 or even 38 credit cards. really? That many? I have 6 and I feel that might be a bit too many so I am trying to keep it down to 4 cards. Honestly, as great as this website is for helping people, I wonder at times if it doesnt hurt just as much as it helps. Especially when I read posts like these or the ones where people app out of boredom. People come in and see all the approvals and just get the urge to apply. I cringe every time I see those. But to each their own I guess.

Why so many cards? Well, allow me to explain.
What you see above is the culmination of 2 app sprees over nearly 2 years. You don't know my whole story but it is on this forum if you really want the long version.
My initial spree netted me many store cards which I got to boost my score. I made the mistake of apping after only a short time on this site and applied for the wrong cards and way too many of them. I thought I was doing a good thing. I see now that it was not. I waited a year and a lot of my bad items and inquiries fell off my reports and my scores came up, so I did another spree to get the better cards I initially wanted. I have them now and will now be trimming off the less useful cards soon.
So, in short, don’t always assume someone has no self-control or blame this forum, sometimes it is just that persons plan, albeit messed up that it is.
I do plan to trim the fat as my UTIL goes down. I do regret getting all the store cards and cards I never really wanted but I know in time that will fix itself as I close them or let them age to death. That doesn't make me kick myself any less for my mistake while learning the credit game though. Hopefully others in the same situation will read this and maybe avoid the pitfalls I did not.
You both should try not taking the Internet so seriously. Have a little fun in life. And by no means should you judge others in their journey. Give advice and encouragement when you can. This is a helpful site and its users are mostly very smart and helpful. If ridicule is your thing, perhaps you should try another site? This is just credit cards. There are tons of Apple/Andoid or Ford/Chevy sites out there for that kind of stuff. Apple and Ford are the best by the way. ![]()
My comment was valid and had nothing to so with taking the internet so seriously. My statemens are based on what I read here that people post, including what you posted. No hard feelings. Afterall, you yourself used the words *couldn't wait*, *regret*, *being in debt pretty bad*, *falling for the card * and *regret apping*. It's all good. Like I said,to each their own.

No harm done, just trying to keep this on track. It's all good.

I have 20+cards. I app whenever I see a bonus that will benefit me. I have made thousands of dollars in cash back and miles during the last few years. I keep my UT under 5% and only carry a balance when there is a zero APR deal. You tell me how this doesn't make good sense! And yes if one is going to do do this they must follow strict guidelines and self control in making sure they do not charge more than they can payoff each month.
That's my goal -- earning money from banks, period.
In the past 10 years I have a verifiable $500,000+ in spending on my DEBIT CARDS. Think about that for a moment when you see 1.5% as a lowest cash back offer and up to 6% in mileage redemption for some cards. I threw anywhere anywhere from $7500 to over $30,000 in free cash or travel in 10 years. And my true spending was over $500,000 but some of it was cash and other forms of payment that I never tracked well.
Now I am back to aiming for high rewards cards, and the better the rewards based on my spending, the more likely I am to get that card when I have the FICO08s to get it. If it means 10 cards, no problem. If it means 30 cards, fine.
I wrote my own credit spreadsheet that ties into my spending spreadsheet (based on category spends) and it tells me which cards would maximize which spending category for the future. I know already that my current 1.5% and 2% cash back cards are limiting how much profit I can extract from banks. 2.5% and 3% cashback cards are showing up (sometimes promotional offers for limited time frames) and I grind my teeth thinking I am only getting 2% back when I could be snagged 25-50% more free cash for doing nothing but taking an inquiry hit for 12 months and a little AAoA decrease for a year or two.
