I have been repairingcredit for the last 2 months and got my EX report on track so I went ahead and applied for the Amex BCE card and was approved for 15K, after that I went for the BOA Cash Rewards card and was approved for 3K which is cool, but of course I would have liked for it to have been more. Can or should I try to recon the starting limit with BOA? If so will it result in another hard pull?
You can try but will probably be a TransUnion HP for the recon / credit limit increase request. BofA pulls EX for initial approvals and TU for CLI's. Personally I'd wait, use the card responsibly for 6 months than spend the HP on a CLI request of $25k.
Congratulations on your BOA approval!!
Thank you
Just as an example, I have same card. Opened 8/23/16 with SL $2500. CLI Link appeared 11/22/16 day after statement cut. I Pulled the trigger, asked for $25,000 total, got $5800 total, a $3300 increase. That being said, there's a lot of data points and stories on the forum of members waiting 6 months before requesting there 1st CLI and getting a much better result.
Link showed up again on 2/22/17 (right after statement cut) and I am resisting with all of my strength. I'll wait until May/Jun and ask for $25,000 again...
Congratulations and enjoy your new card ![]()
Wow, great approvals for you, tbea! BCE at $15K to start is awesome, and your BofA Cash Rewards for $3K isn't really that bad at all! Like Cash said, it will grow leaps and bounds if you let it simmer for just the right amount of time. Super happy that your credit has turned around full circle! ![]()
As mentioned by several posters CLI's can be available at the 3 month mark, but 6 months seems to be the sweet spot and ask for the moon, they will counter!! Good luck and congrats on the new card.
