@Anonymous wrote:Congrats! I never knew secured cards actually unsecure at some point. I always see people apply for unsecured after a year or two and get it but I didnt know actual secured cards graduate on their own.
They all dont become unsecured automatically.
I have the B of A secured for 3 months now and hoping for graduation to unsecured early, happy at 12 months, and will keep plugging away even if it takes longer. I really want to be in with them.
I also have the USAA secured for over 3 years. They aren't kidding, they do not graduate. I am going to cold app for an unsecured card in a couple months when my scores improve and then I'll drop the secured card.
For specifc cards that do graduate, you would have to read threads about each one.

From what I read, BOA has a good reputation with graduating their secured cards.

BOA has a good reputation for graduating their secured cards. From my understanding they won't do it before 12 months. If this information was inaccurate, I'm sure others will chime in.
You can request graduation (BoA) after 5th statement and it will be HP. There are few reports for 5th statement graduation. There are more reports for 6th-9th month graduations, I guess not many people ask at 5. They actually auto-graduate after 9th-12th statement. My DW got auto-graduation after 9th statement.
There is a post with a table with most of the secured cards, AF, if they graduate, if it is HP to add money (limit) and other information, in this forum.
Great news! My payment posted for 2.4k this morning, so after my lunch time today I decided to call (BofA: 866-618-4585 (Sr Credit Analyst)) to hopefully see if they would increase my Credit line from 3k to 10k. And, they did!!!! (two days after my card became unsecured and CLI to 3k).
New Credit Line: 10k... Same TU Pull. No new Hard Pull. So, now I just spent 7.4k on the card, waiting for it to post and then I'll pay it in full again; once that payment post's I'll be calling (BofA: 866-618-4585 (Sr Credit Analyst)) again to see if they will increase my credit line to 20k.
So, excited!!! This my first highest credit line ever. To think 4 months ago my highest credit card line of credit was 800 dollars from credit one. (not including store cards).
