I was really surprised by this one given how weird WF has been with me in the past (I had a $700 college card with them where the rewards structure basically expires after six months, they wanted tax returns on WF Platinum and completely denied for the Propel card after all this verification stuff) and given how I closed my checking and savings account with them a week or two ago.
Applied for this yesterday and the app was pending and then I called back today and talked to this really nice woman on the phone who told me that she checked my app and that I had been approved for $2k and then I asked which version of the card I got, and she just told me the classic American Express version. She couldn't find the APR though but I'm very excited to have my first non Centurion Bank Amex card. Fidelity Amex is another one that I hope to get later this year.
I hope having this card and managing it over the next few months will make it easier to qualify for their Propel cards. Also I was considering buying some dress clothes and stuff on their website for business related purposes so there was that motivation too. Tried Nordstrom at first but I think they wanted an EX pull and my EX is frozen so I'm not really gonna bother with that.
Congratulations and good luck on your continued credit journey!

Congratulations and nice work. Nice that you're back in with WF but I liked it better when it was with Sync, miss those quarterly CLIs

Thanks! I think my limit for now is good enough to buy the stuff I need on the website and to be able to use it anywhere else.
Besides, I'm tempted to try the Propel again to see if they loosen up on that one. I think WF potentially can fill in the void that Citi left sort of or US Bank.

Good luck if you do try for it again, took me 5 tries to get it I believe (ravaged my EX report with INQs over a year span) and they wouldnt give me it or my other one until I finally opened an account with them and got an auto loan through them. 6 months later they finally gave me one. WF is tough and are very relationship oriented. I think since you've been with them before you may have a solid chance though.
Congrats!
Congrats.. We might need to put an electric fence up for you to stay in the garden

Only if CA can lend me his. Lol. I remember when I was so worried about Barclays AA, he even told me that "who cares about Barclay" or something like that. Still the biggest irony ever that I've never gotten into any problem from them. I don't even care about Citi anymore quite frankly and I'm even better off without them now.
Seriously though, in the long term, the losses I suffered weren't as bad as I thought. Still gonna be a lot more careful when it comes to trying to app for multiple cards from the same lender (depending on how conservative they are) in the same month or getting approved for really big limit cards.
Congrats!!
