Little backstory: I'm using 3 of my credit cards to help pay out-of-pocket for the fancy orthopedic surgeon I wanted but wasn't covered under my insurance. My overall utilization is 16%, which isn't toooo bad, but those 3 individual cards are at 53%, 35%, and 27%. Ideally I wanted to get some CLI's to help pad my UTL but I wasn't holding my breath. Chase is the 53% but no way I even try it. Next! Disco is the 27% and since they're a soft pull it's no-risk. However, they keep telling me to kick rocks. BofA was my only hope but given that I just got a CLI 3.5 months ago and the card isn't even a year old I figured best not to blow a HP -- just wait a few more months until it's paid down a bit.
Buuuttt...that wily BofA Pimp, K-in-Boston, lured me.
Posting about how he did a CLI request every 3-5 months for 2 years and is now up to 100K. He's also told me that BofA is great with higher utilization, that they never batted an eyelash at him. Hence my finger got so itchy I couldn't stop it...
Anyway, BofA ponied up 9,600. I'm so stoked! That will get the card's UTL down to 21%, eliminating the >30% scoring penalty.
DPs:
Cash Rewards. Opened September 2017.
6,000 ---> 12,000 ---> 21,600
TU score: 706
Overall UTL: 16%
Card UTL: 35%
Credit file young and thin due to reboot. AoOA: 13 + years. AoYA: 7 months. AAoA: 2 years, 8 months.
I love me some BofA! They've been great to me. And, as far as I can tell from reading these forums, they're one of the most generous lenders.
Thanks again, K-in-Boston! You the man.

Congratulations! Very impressive! I love my Rewards card. BofA offers great deals. Enjoy your new limit and use it well.
Big congrats WhiteCleats! BOA loves some utilization on their cards.
Congrats!!
Too bad Chase isn't as easy as BOFA.

Thanks, BC. Yeah, they must -- they gave me a raise when I didn't think anyone would. Do you know if Amex is as chill wit the UTL? I couldn't test it even if I wanted to becasue my BCE is getting PIF.

Right? Chase is tough, tough, tough. I cannot figure out who to blow over there to get a CLI. ![]()
