BofA Denied

I decided to apply for another card to try and add another card to my profile and decided to go for the bankamericard cash rewards for students. Needless to say i was denied. I was told i would receive a letter in the mail for reason of being denied and possibly have the opportunity to be approved for another card. I considered (but really didn't want to) a secured card from one of my credit unions but wanted an unsecured card so i didn't have to deposit money for the credit limit. Maybe i should of, that way i would of been guaranteed approval and wouldn't have wasted an inquiry lol. But i guess i'll just wait for the letter in the mail from bofa and see what they tell me.

do you know what your EX score is?

Do you have other credit cards?

maybe they will offer you the 99/500 secured card.

otherwise I would try to recon now with backdoor number.

No I don't know my EX unfortunately. Had I came back on here earlier to see your message I would of given them a call but I'm at work now. & what's a 99/500 secure card?? I've heard of a secure card but not a 99/500. Pls explain?

Its a partially secured CC, you put up $99 in a secured savings account and they provide a 500 CL.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I really hope they don't offer me a secured card because I really don't plan on using the money I have saved to open a cc, which is why I picked an unsecured card to begin with. But I'll just wait and see what they offer me.

Have you tried their recon line?  I have read people have had great success with it.  

I would not do a secured card if you already have other open credit cards in good standing.

EDIT:  The credit analyst should be able to tell you why you were denied...that way you don't waste a week wondering.  Give it a shot...you've already taken the HP! (make sure they don't do another)

Yes, do try the reconsider line. Don't get defeated. Try to be really positive with the rep, and you never know what the results might be.

No I haven't tried the recon first thing tomorrow morning and cross my fingers. And that's what I said, I don't want a secured card if my other two lines are unsecured. And from what the rep I was chatting with online when I was filling out the app my cr shouldn't be pulled again

Does BofA normally pull EX? That's a trend I saw on the creditpulls database.
