I'm backkkkkkk!
This might sound cliche but Im greatful for this forum. I've been stuck on it for hours EVERY NIGHT ever since I've discovered it as I am EAGER to get my score in the right place and self-educate myself on credit and how it works.
I was in the process of rebuilding and started about a year ago.. I was not in much debt at all maybe 6-7k over the years. I had paid off a lot of the COs over the years and 3 paid tax liens recently fell off this month. Only neg on my account is Verizon Wireless which I'll work on getting removed (i know). As bad as this may sound, thankfully I forked my credit in my teens over some low balances so wasn't able to dig myself deeper which I am thankful for.
Last month I opened a thread regarding CAP1 preapproval notices for the Quicksilver (not QS1) (http://bit.ly/ZBNAlN) via mail and I thought my score was 640 (had no idea about fakos etc, I was going based off of CK). Anyways pretty much everyone said go for it, i was scared and hesitant but I was approved. Up until this point I only had a Macys ($500) and Secured Cap1 card ($600).. also an auth user on 2 of my wife's cards. I was scared and hesitant but called up and did it... In that same thread I mentioned wanting 1-2 more actual CCs. Very few said go for it although I myself felt like I shouldnt... between then and now I appd for 2 store cards (Express, Overstock) using the SC trick (soft pulls).... after doing a bunch of research and already had the form filled out I clicked submit and it gave me an error (i didn't accept terms... heh) this scared the crap out of me and I was about to close the window until I realized I won't be apping for a while again and I could have also recon'd if anything. Worst case I'd lose an INQ... my fico scores currently stand at ex/628 tu/611 eq/613 BUT... I was instantly approved for $2200, my highest limit thus far!!!!
I get upset when members come here for help, get the information they need and don't have the decency to report/update us on the outcome which may help users in the future... which is why I decided to open this thread. I might have just gotten lucky as Ive seen a couple of posts stating you have to be in the high 600s to be approved for the Chase Freedom but either way I'm thankful and not complaining ![]()
I will not end up on an app spree, instead I'm going to let these nice cards age and take my time in rebuilding.
When my CAP1 card reported on Exp it my fico went up 13 points... when my comenity store card reported it went down 2 points? Do you guys know why this would happen at all?
Also would my FICO take a major hit next month from these 4 new cards? Keep in mind 2 were softpulls. Right now I should have 3 inquiries. 1 from last year and 2 for my QS and Freedom card. I hope this helps someone in the future! I would report my AAOA to help but not sure how/where to find this. On my fico score here "Length of credit history" is "GOOD" and shows the following but not sure if this is accurate. Could this be the reason I was approved? Would my new cards impact this significantly?
EXPERIAN:
Your oldest account was opened 9 Years, 4 Months ago (probably one of my wifes cards?)
Average age of your accounts 4 years
Congrats on your Freedom approval!! Thanks gor posting
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Congrats!
Its a nice card to have. Mine was approved with 586 EX and 626 EQ (only $500 cl initially) so its probably not likely an approval would happen with low scores but it isnt impossible. Enjoy
Congrats!.....Thanks for sharing...![]()
congrats

Thanks all!

I read they use their own internal scoring. The Fico is MyFico is the most up to date right? I'm thinking if maybe my scores they pulled were more up to date but these are the scores I see here on MyFico.
Congrats!
CONGRATS on your credit journey, thanks for sharing!!!
