Smiley Very Happy  Actually, there were a few who wanted to see it for sure (given the recent threads of denials for new accounts)... and there it is!

Congratulations on your recent success. I'm curious what explanation you used for your new accounts. It's definitely a discussion I never want to have with an underwriter, which is why I usually don't ever call backdoor numbers if I'm not instantly approved.

Thanks ddemari!  You can add #8 to your collection (well, at some point of course Smiley Tongue).  It's a very decent looking card.

I explained the purpose of each card (more or less the most recent ones) and eventually looking to expand some business growth with Chase (wink wink *Ink*) plus explained my personal spending patterns and the reasons for some of the tradelines that he had questions about.  He could also see how far back my credit history goes and could see that I have not closed any Chase cards (i.e. just to collect sign-up bonus and bye!).  He acknowledged my overall relationship with them and how cards have been handled including some very old Chase accounts.  Then, he asked what kind of work I did and that's where our conversation pretty much left the interrogation chair as far as the new accounts.  He definitely did not see me as a "bad" risk based on his overall review but was definitely inquisitive on the recent growth of new cards.

Now, I can guarantee that if I had been called by someone who was probably not having the best of days, the conversation and outcome would have been altogether different!

I see - thank you for the response. I had a 7th Chase card recently, but I closed an old one this past month (Chase Amazon). IHG and the British Airways cards are next up for me, so I was curious in the event that I get a similar call Smiley Indifferent

I think if you've had them for longer than a year or two, you should be fine.  I consolidated a few cards in my time but after having them for quite a while.  And I used to have British Airways and Amazon long ago but combined the CLs into another card to simplify some of the spending on specific cards for UR points, hotels and/or travel rewards.

Definitely see how the call initiates.  Someone that sounds "curmudgeony" may not sway things in the right direction.  If you are honest and upfront with the answers (whatever they ask) then you should be fine but do not overvolunteer information, let them ask the questions and evaluate your responses.  Pretty much like an interview, and be sure to ask some questions too (if applicable).

ETA - oh nice CC line up btw Smiley Happy  (I can't fit all of mine - too many)
