I was waiting until my CLI on AMEX showed up on my credit reports, and now I've confirmed it's at least on my EQ report. I wanted to have that go through before I asked Discover for a CLI.
AMEX is at 18k, so I asked Discover to up my $8.8k limit to $20k. They counter offered $13.3k without a hard pull. I accepted.
Do you get a report (and score) when they counteroffer?
Should I now call the Capital One EO and ask for a CLI? My account is "not eligible" (it was a rebuilder card)...they took it from $500 to $5k earlier this year when I complained to them that they were my lowest card. Now all but my Chase cards (and my Target Visa, which I expect them to cancel any day now) are higher.
AMEX True Rewards - from 6k to 18k
Discover More - from 8800 to 13300
Credit Union Visa - from 5k to 10k
Chase BP - 5800
Capital One - 5k
Chase Slate - 4k
Target Visa - $200
I might ask Chase to PC that Slate card, since I only got it for their 0% BT offer but otherwise, it doesn't do me much good. Capital One, I might ask to PC to Quicksilver and for a CLI. Discover - it seems like people have had success with the online request followed by a phone request. The CU card, I'm going to ask for a review when I apply for a mortgage refi with them in a month or 2. They'll use the report they pull for that, so no extra hard pull.
Any other thoughts?

Congrats! Without a HP you wont get your credit score. Have you looked into PC'ing your More to the IT?
OP this PC is super easy to do and I recommend it! I PCd my More to It as well.
I agree that the IT is a much better card than the More. I would PC it. I did the same a few months ago.
PCing is definitely on my agenda. Although I'm wondering if I can get the intro special - 14 months at 0% for purchases and I think there was an initial cash back above and beyond the regular cash back. If I can PC and get that, I'm all about it...once the laptop I'm waiting for to come out comes out. Otherwise, I was thinking about applying for the IT and then combining cards.
On another note, how soon is too soon to ask the EO for another CLI?
Oh, I didn't know you could do that! Neat idea. 3 Months is the CLI interval for Discover, I believe. For Capital 1 it's 6 months.. but for EO I think it's YMMV. I know some people get it more frequently than others.
You can always ask! I don't know much about Discover's policies, but I've definitely heard of places letting you combine cards. Disadvantage, of course, is your AAoA etc. I really don't want to be incurring HPs or adding new cards before I refi, though.
I don't think Discovers pratices combining limits. You can certainly ask tho!
Congrats on the increase OP!

Did you requested with normal CSR or thru credit analyst?
