I decided to pull the trigger and apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred last Sunday. I received the 30 day message, so I called the reconsideration line (1-888-270-2127). The CSR notified me the application had been sent to the Verifications department but they were closed on weekends. She said she would put in a request to have the review expedited and then gave me the their number (1-877-470-9042).
I called the Verifications Department Monday morning. The CSR said they just needed to ask me a few questions to verify my identity. I found it odd that the questions were multiple choice. After I verified I was myself, she told me I was approved with a credit limit of $12,000.
They pulled both Experian and TransUnion (applying from Texas). I still haven't received any confirmation email notifying me of the approval, but I've called the automated application status number (1-800-432-3117) and it also told me approved with a credit line of $12,000.
I'm excited about the new card but I'm really regretting that I didn't ask the CSR about rush delivery since my card still hasn't arrived. Maybe Monday...
Congratulations!
Congratulations on the approval. If this may help, I was approved last Saturday 13th an my freedom card came today 12/20/14. Very nice limit too.
Thanks everyone

Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
Very nice starting limit!
I received a pre-approval for CSP and Slate this past week in the mail, though it doesn't show up on-line. I already have Freedom (only $1200 CL and 22.9% int. rate) and a decent chase Amazon card that I use regularly (3500 CL with rewards). My utilization is low ( less than 5% at the moment) and I'm 53, but I'm thinking about traveling next year if my health allows and am tempted to try for CSP. My score is around 700 with two late payments on a line of credit (30,60 day) during the summer of 2013. I've never been late on my chase cards and also have direct deposit into chase checking. I have 4 inquires listed on my TU report and will take a hit if I apply for more cards. Do you think it's worth it to apply for the CSP? My tax-free disability income is 50K and I have a $116,000 Mortgage balance. That's it. I have AMEX green, two Cap One's (5K total credit line with a recent 1K increase and upgrade to quicksilver) and the chase cards. Thank you.
