I worked with the EO on 3 of my cap one cards. Two of them they were able to change from the regular card with the $39 AF to the Quicksilver with no AF, the 3rd one they said the only offer available was the Quicksilver One with the AF. They did credit me back one yr AF but said each card has its own T&C and promos. Weird. I will definitely try to get that last one switched to the no AF version in the future. Also got CLI on two cards. Good luck!
Hmm, maybe it's my own fault for applying for a crappy card three years ago, so I got stuck with one that can't be upgraded. It seemed like a good card at the time, since it had rewards - but knowing what I know now, I could have qualified for a much better card. Oh well - there's that 20/20 hindsight, I guess. ![]()
I'm going to see what they do for a CLI on mine, but I don't see myself keeping this card longterm and paying an AF every year. Rewards-wise, I have a better card for everyday spending and I don't need the low CL for util. I was planning to PC to a no-AF card and keep it for a recurring charge, but since I can't do that, I don't feel like this card is worth the AF for me. It's my oldest open CC, but it's only 3 years old.
It's a little frustrating because some have great experiences with Cap One and their cards grow with them. I have excellent credit, so it's a little frustrating that they can't upgrade my card to one of their "excellent credit" cards. Oh well - I'll probably keep it until the next AF is due and then close it and replace it with a card that meets my needs better.
I had my Cap1 Platinum Mastercard ($39 AF) for 2 years when they CLI'd me from $500 to $2000 about 2 months ago. At that point I PC'd to Quicksilver One via chat, they were unable to waive AF. I wasn't aware of the EO route at the time. Emailed EO 2 weeks or so later, and was able to get the AF permanently waived. Didn't ask for anything else, but 6 months after the CLI/PC date I will email again for CLI and PC to Quicksilver Signature.

YES - that's what I want! And this is exactly what is frustrating to me - that some people are able to get the results that I want, but I'm being told no. If there was a problem with my CR, I'd understand - but there isn't. They keep telling me to app for a new card. ![]()
I received a voicemail from the Cap One EO - the rep said that my request had been honored, but did not state the amount of the CLI. So I logged onto my online account and it says that my CL is $2500. It was previously 1K, so it's an increase of 150% - but nowhere near what I had requested. I know Cap One is pretty stingy on CLs, but I was expecting at least 5K (I asked for 10K). Is this a normal-sized CLI from Cap One?
Overall, I'm disappointed in the EO. It seems like others have had much better luck with them than I have. If they had been able to PC my card to a no-AF QS, I'd be happy with the small CLI. If they'd given me the CLI I requested, I could live with the AF. But neither? Not sure it's worth keeping.
I'll think about it and make a decision when the next AF is due. They credited my account for the AF on this statement, so I'd expect that they'll charge me for next year's AF in Feb. Overall, I think I can find a card that meets my needs better than this one, so dumping Cap One to save myself the $39 may be in my best interest. I'm just surprised/disappointed that they couldn't do more than this for a customer with excellent credit - but I'm glad I tried the EO option before closing the account.

I had a very good experience with EO. After being denied for an online CLI due to not enough use I emailed them and got a call the next day. Requested a 10k CLI and a couple of days later I got a call back telling me they approved me for an additional 5k. This raised my venture CL from 5k to 10k, which was basically what I wanted. The lack of a foreign transaction fee comes in very handy, since my freedom card would charge me a fee. Overall I have been very happy with cap 1. All cap 1 cards are not created equal. I don't know much about your card, but I know some people with cap 1 rebuilder cards get mad when they can not get a high CLI. Those cards are not designed for that and you have to know the limits on your product. It may be helpful if someone has a lot of experience with multiple cap 1 cards can do a chart of their product line and which cards you can expect real CLIs on and which cards where you will likely only get minimal CLIs on. With this CLI it puts me in a nice position for future app cycles.
I guess I must have a rebuilder card, then - which is frustrating because I've never needed to rebuild my credit. I didn't know a lot about CCs when I applied for the Cap One card, so it's probably my own fault for applying for the wrong one - but you'd think they'd recognize that and PC the card.
Seeing that many of you have experience with the QS card, do you think it's benefical for me to try to have my current Cap1 Platinum card converted over when I call for a CLI in a few weeks?
Have had the card since - 9/27/11 - $750. - 8/12 - $1500. 5/14/13 - $2500. (EO).
1% cash back on everything
No fee balance transfers
Annual fee is either $39. or $59. per year (think it's $39).
I've looked at the info on their site. It looks like I have a pretty good deal with my current card. Don't know if I'm missing any important benefits that go with the QS.
Going to ask for $5k next month.

absolutely! i would suggest asking for the whole ten yards imho. i would bet they will waive they af (they did mine with no debate) and probaly switch you to the quicksilver as they did with me which has 1.5% cash back. while your at it request a cli for humor even if you don;t want one.....
