Re: Cap1 Credit Steps with Data Points

Congratulations Bella. You're doing better than me. I requested my first increase after 3 statements and they wouldn't give me one because I hadn't used the card enough. My starting limit was the same as yours. But my spend was definitely lower than yours. Only about $500 in 3 months.

My 6th Cap1 closing date was today. I was due for Credit Steps. I got a $500 CLI, bringing me to $3800 total. I was kind of hoping for more, but any increase is good! It's just hard to think of waiting 6 more months for another one.

Data Points

June 2016- Capital One Platinum approved, $3000 SL

July (after 1st statement)- PC to Quicksilver

August- (after 2nd statement)- Luv button , offered $250, declined

Sept (after 3rd statement)- Luv button , offered $300, accepted

Dec (on 6th statement)- Credit Steps $500

Monthly spend ranged from $400 to $700

Congratulations !  Great data points as well !

Just to be clear, you only had your card 1 month before PC'ing it to the QS ?

Reason being ,  I've had the QS1 for 2 cycles and using and paying heavy on it.

If it's possible ,  I'd like to PC it to the regular QS ASAP . .

Thanks for including your data points !

Yes, just over a month. I waited until my 1st statement posted, and requested the PC via online chat. It was super easy. My DH PC'd his too after his 1st statement. I've read on here that you can even do it before, but my DH tried right after getting his card but there was no offer. You should give it a try!☺

I second this!! I had the QS1 for 3 months and a few days after my CLI denial, I chatted with Customer Service and PC'd to QS. It was quick and easy. But it may be there for you earlier than 3 months. I didn't try it before then. So, you sould give it a try!

Re: Cap1 Credit Steps with Data Points

Congrats on the love with Cap-1.  They have treated me like a red headed step child and now are in the dirty laundry because thye're not good enough for the sock drawer.  I hear so many good stories from everyone else about them but they hate me.  That's alright, they'll sucumb to my powers of seduction sooner or later..

Hi, ItsPossible, I actually missed replying to your post and I intended to. I've been sick the last couple of days. I actually slacked off on my spend last month, and I haven't used it this month. I decided to quit playing that game, so I think you're doing the best thing. When is your Credit Steps due? I've read some posts on here about the Steps increase being bigger if you don't get one before. I hope that's what happens for you!☺

Hi Bella. It is ok that you didn't respond earlier. I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick.Smiley Sad I hope you are doing better!!!!

For my credit steps, my sixth statement will cut in March. So, I guess credit steps would be March or April?  I will probably will put some spend on it in January, when I give Discover a rest. However, I won't spend just to spend. Smiley Wink Hoping they will give me some love around that time.  Don't want alot, would just like to get to the $5K in hopes of graduating the card WEMC.
