How much spend do you usually put on your other capital one card?  Do you use it up to the credit line or cycle the credit limit at all?

Congrats, it's a really nice card.

Cap1 really likes to see significant spend on their cards. The conventional advice when going for a CLI seems to be to spend at least 25-35% of your CLI (exact amount uncertain), for a period of at least 3 months, though in my experience 3 months doesn't work. I think it needs to be longer, though I'm not sure exactly how long. (Currently testing it with my $300 CL Cap1 card, and 3 months did not work.) Typical CLIs are 10% of your current limit, minimum $100, so it's definitely a slow grow. Though there are exceptions, especially with the first CLI. You can spam them with requests for a CLI, but if you get a CLI, you'll have to wait 6 months to be eligible for another.

To add, my experience is an automatic cli is usually higher than one requested as far as the first cli. i got a 1500 auto cli on my QS after the first 5 months 300 - 1800, i spent about 30-40 pct of my limit and pif AFTER the statement cut. my 2nd cli was requested,, 200 , making that card 2k.

However this same thing didnt work on my savor one. 3000 sl and only 100 cli at 5 months.

Its a mystery,

To share a few DPs, I've had my card for a year and a half. For the first couple months, I put a token amount on the card. But as I approached the 6 month mark, I started heavily using the card. For three months, I averaged over 100% of my CL. And I got no love, despite repeated requests for a CLI. After that, I sockdrawered the card. I started trying for a CLI again a couple months ago, and I've been using 40-60% of the limit for July, August, and September. No love so far.

Note while my median usage is almost nothing, my average (mean) usage over the entire lifetime of the card is in the 30-40% range. While I've put very little on the card most months, my high spend months more than make up for it. But Cap1 clearly doesn't care about that. My card still has a $300 CL.

Curious, what were the decline reasons for your CLI?  Did you have inquiries and new accounts during the time you were requesting CLI?

The decline reasons last year were "Your Capital One account is too new". Despite it being over 6 months old, and a Platinum (which was supposed to be considered for a CLI at 6 months). The more recent declines were "Recent use of this account's existing credit limit has been too low".

I have 3 cards, and 1 wasted inquiry (in /forever). I doubt it's that. I was unscorable when I got the card, but by the 5 month mark my EX3 (the only one of the mortgage scores that Cap1 uses that I had available) was 816. Completely clean file.
