Capital one Walmart CLi approved today.

Ok I don't understand how Capital one works. I ask for credit line increase on my Capital one Walmart mastercard. My credit on the card is 18K and for last 6 months I spend about 200 to 300 per month and pay off the balance each month only use card at Walmart. Income is 80K and Fico scores around 800. Called the number on the back of card and ask computer for credit line increase, answered bonth of questions then I got the answer congratulation your new credit line is 19K you have 1K increase. What I don't understand I have Quick silver mastercard with 4700 line and have the card for over 15 years and can't get increase the last time I tried for CLi I got the answer you don't use enough of credit line. The only thing I can think is Capital one wants to keep Walmart customers happy and keep Walmart happy also. Why would they give me an increase on my Walmart mastercard when I don't use much of my credit line and won't give me an increase on my Quick silver card.

Did you try online first? Do you think calling can get you a different approval vs requesting it on capitalone.com?

The questions that I have is why Capital one would approve me for credit line increase on my Walmart mastercard that has high credit limit of 18K and omly use les then 2 percent of line each month and would not give me lime increase on the Quick silver mastercard and never been late on the card for over 15 years. When I did apply for CLI on Quick silver card get that you don't use enough of credit line which is 4700 stuck at that amount for 10 years. Capital one is known for not giving increases if you don't put lot spend on ther cards. I think it is because when Capital one took over the Wallmart cards ther was understanding that Capital one would make shore that Walmart customers would stay happy so thay keep on shoping at Walmart stores. What is the logic and rules for credit line increases that Capital one has put into ther AI for making approvals for ther cards. Would like to hear what others think.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I know I use my Capital One Quicksilver Card a lot when I purchase gas and eat out. Also, whenever I request a credit increase in the past, I would chat online with a CapOne agent to receive an increase. In your case I would make it known that you're a valued customer of 15 years and and deserve more of an increase and possibly ask to speak to a supervisor.
