I applied for a HELOC with US Bank a week and a half ago. The banker called today and said that in order to get the rate reduction on the HELOC, they want you to have a checking account. They're running a promotion where you get $75 back after you use your debit card for $75. So she suggested I open the checking this week. I ran down to open it.
In the process, I was also offered my choice of any of the US Bank CCs (I think, there was a long list on the computer, but I didn't look beyond hte first). I got a Cash + with a $5k SL. (I confirmed there wouldn't be a new inquiry. She said it would be off my original pull from applying for the HELOC.

I was all excited to come home and log onto the accounts and pick my categories, but the Visa isn't showing on the online account yet. I'll try not to panic.
I also read something that I should get some kind of a bonus (being a checking customer). I'll bug the banker about that when she's back in on Wednesday.
