I was pricing a hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy app when a little banner appeared saying I was pre-approved for the Bonvoy Boundless card.I clicked the "learn more" and went through the terms and saw a fixed APR.
Of course being a member of this site for years, I knew my chances were slim to none but I couldn't resist and applied.
Wheel spun and came back with under review. I chuckled and said to myself, "that's what I figured".
I called the automated status line to confirm my suspicion of denial and received the 7-10 day language.
I then proceeded to speak with a representative. The first person who answered confirmed my application was declined due to bankruptcy reporting. He then asked if I would like my application reconsidered. I told him yes and he transferred me to lending.
I sat on hold for about 30 minutes and a very nice credit analyst came on the line. She asked how she could help and I told her my application was declined and I would like to request a reconsideration on the decision, if possible.
She put me on hold for about three minutes or so while she reviewed my application. When she came back on the line, I fully expected her to say she reviewed and wasn't able to overturn due to BK. Instead, she asked me about the reason for BK. She then put me back on hold for another three minutes or so then comes back and confirmed my income. Another hold, then...the line drops.
Feeling a little defeated, I went upstairs to told myself I'd have to call again later when I had time to. I checked my email and all of the sudden there is an email from Marriott with a $250 gift card congratulating me on becoming a new cardholder.
Stunned and in disbelief, I called back Chase's automated system and it said "You've been approved!"
I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm ecstatic to be in with Chase!
Stats: 720 Ex pull 8/24 or so and BK discharged 8/2015. Approved for $6000.
My goal card is the CSP. Hopefully being back in will help with approval odds on that in 1-2 years.
I did not burn Chase or any of its affiliates in BK.
It's possible to get in with a BK and over 5/24!
CONGRATS!!!!!
Did you burn chase in your bk7?
