Chase Freedom Flex Approval w/8 Months History (Recon)

Long time lurker first time poster. Wanted to share a DP as this site has been so helpful in getting me set up for credit as someone new to the U.S.

Applied for the CFF with 5% gas and grocery offer last night - instant decline with 7-10 days for notice message. As I have a Chase bank account and have signed up for paperless everything, I received the decline letter this morning in my online banking portal. Only one decline reason listed: Number of recent credit accounts, so I felt this should be a strong candidate for recon despite my short credit history (8 months exactly).

Called 888-270-2127 recon line and got through to first line agent who simply read the decline reason and stated there was nothing she could do to overturn this. I confidently stated that I have only opened 4 revolving accounts in the last 24 months and that got her to transfer me to the analyst who went through my account opening history and pointed her to the AU account. With this info she stated that recon was possible and to hold the line. Approx 8 mins later she comes back and says congratulations Mr. Farmer, you have been approved for $500. Not a great SL and I probably should have waited for a recent CLI on my MACU card to report on EX, but overturning a denial still feels great. It is also a foot in the door with Chase at less than 12 months which is also a plus.

My account opening history is:

1/6, 4/12, 4/24 (+1 AU Card <6 months) Insta-decline confirms that Chase's algorithm treats AU and Primary cards the same for 5/24 screening.

Chase savings account, May 2023 w/small portion of my check deposited twice a month

Discover It!, $1000, Dec 2022

MACU Cashback Visa, $500 (recent CLI to $5,000 had not yet hit EX file), Jan 2023

Re: Chase Freedom Flex Approval w/8 Months History (Recon)

Congrats on the approval!  I have the original Chase Freedom from many years ago, which looks to be pretty similar to freedom flex.  It's a nice card as far as rewards go.
