I had heard that the welcome offer was ending soon, so I tip-toed out of the garden and completed the application online. This is my first credit card application since my husband passed away in February. I've paid my debt quite a bit and am now at 32% UTI. It will be below 30% by the end of July. I didn't want to take the chance of missing the extra 1.5%. I have a Chase Amazon Prime card with a $5500 limit. I have no other relationship with Chase. Now, the stats & DP:
SL: $5600
Pulled Transunion, that surprised me. I am in KY (EDIT: The EX HP came about an hour later, so it was a double HP. I was expecting EX)
Scores: EQ 708, TU 711, EX 709
I am 1/24, so I'm well within the 5/24 rule.
Inquiries, 4 total on TU, one in the past year. 3 total on EX, zero in the past year.
I am happy with the CL, but I have learned enough here to ask for more. When the card arrives I'll call and ask for a higher limit, they will connect me with recon, and I will give it a shot. I don't think that I've got anything to lose. Or do I?
My plan is to app for the Chase Sapphire Preferred later this year so that I can move those points over. But I want to wait until my score is closer to 750 to maximize my SL.
As recently as January my scores were down to the 620's. To be over 700 now blows my mind. I have a long memory on which cards have been the nicest to me. And while Chase has never given me a CLI on the Amazon Prime card, and I've come close to my limit, I paid it off 3 months ago and have PIF since then. I will continue that. But both Citi & Wells Fargo balance chased me for a while late last year and earlier this year. They stopped, but that really hurt my score. Discover & Synch PayPal Mastercard both increased my limit. Both AmEx & CapOne declined my CLI even though I paid them off. I haven't asked PNC yet. I think it's best to garden until it's time for the Chase Sapphire Reserve. If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it. I haven't posted much because I haven't had much news - except bad news. But for today, at least, Chase is my hero! Thank you all for all of the wisdom I've gained over the years. I am grateful.
