Hey guys, so I've been looking to get a new laptop and went to check my bank account and noticed the 200 cash back promo is active for the Chase Freedom card. Went in today to see if I could get it but wasn't too sure since I've heard stories about how it can be a bit difficult to get approved sometimes. I unfortunately haven't had a credit card for that long as I never realized the importance of building good credit until my final year of college, which was last year. I've had a Citi ThankYou Preferred card for about 10 months now. It's my only card with a limit of $1,500, and my income is only around $34k. But when I went in and got approved, I was approved for a credit limit of $7,000. At first I thought she was just mistaken and went to check online and lo and behold, $7,000. I'm honestly not sure how I made such a huge jump as again, my credit history doesn't seem that established, and my income is far from impressive. Was wondering if anyone could think of a reason why it would be so high, as I'm actually kind of lost. I mean it's great and all but I've never carried more than a $300 dollar balance on my card as I don't spend that much money because of student loans. Thanks

Well if you are new to credit and you have been paying for 10 months. your score would not have any blemishes yet. so you are good to go. The limit is ok. its not really that important.
Many of us here have 3 times our income in credit limits. just use responsible and you will see how things are coming out the woodworks for you. good luck and congrats.
Congratulations! $7000 was my starting limit on my Freedom as well (in fact, that's still the limit). It was my first $5000+ limit, and it became a gateway to other high limits. Don't question it -- just enjoy it!
Congrats on your approval and fantastic CL.
Welcome to the forums.
Congrats on the approval! That is an awesome SL so you're obviously on the right track. Way to go~
Congrats on the Approval
Thanks guys
Congrats on the approval! Great SL with Chase, don't worry, it will be your smallest line of credit in about a year. Many other good banks will surpass it as chase is very stingy with CLI's.
Congrats on the approval..
