CONGRATS & WELCOME to the Freedom family!!!
Congratulations, and thanks for sharing.
I make sure to use max out whatever catergory for the quarter. 1st quarter was grocery stores, this quarter the 5% is dining. Great card.
A fine companion to the Freedom is the Chase AARP card which offers 3% dining and gas year round. For next the few months I'll use the 5% Freedom and restaraunts, and not the the AARP. I eat out a lot and ride alot so I really like the AARP card.
@Anonymous wrote:I have been checking the pre-qual site on Chase for quite some time and finally today I received a "Congrats, you are pre qualified for the following cards" It listed the Chase Freedom and the Chase Slate. I was quite surprised and excited however I took my time and researched both cards on this site and, since I don't need a BT card I chose the Freedom. Well, I filled out the application and the dreaded 30 day message...I was shocked that I didn't get an instant as I have always read that the Chase pre-qual was near golden.
I did a litte more research, on this site of course, and found the credit analyst number, gave it a call, nice gal answered and said I needed to talk to a security analyst. I have never gotten that before so I was a little worried, however optimistic as she didn't flat out say no.
Security analyst came on and asked me quite a few questions so then I was excited again as I was thinking they are just verifying and I was a shoe-in!! Then he said following the quesions we will go over my credit report, then I was sad again as I thought "crap, they haven't even gotten to my report yet, hmmmph"
Then to my surprise, after answering credit report type questions like do you have a mortgage, who is it with, how much is your car payment etc. he said "congratulations, you have been approved with a $4500 limit!" I was very happy about that, obviously!
Man, what a roller coaster that phone call was, hahaa.
Anyways, I kind of feel like I have arrived the past year, with the help of this site and getting my credit back into shape. I feel very honored to have a Chase card, like REALLY honored - is that weird?
I was hovering around 540 - 580 a year ago with A LOT of baddies, and I mean A LOT! mostly small $50 to $75 medical collections, one charge off (HSBC from 5 years ago) which is still reporting monthly - I need to take care of that one.
My scores are currently (as of right now) 641 EX - 641 EQ and 666 TU 20+ or - inq's on almost all reports. $98,500 income
I was denied a secured Bank of America credit card just last month!
I think I am done for a while and will hit the garden with the quickness. If anyone is interested I will state my other cards / limits.
thanks everyone!
Congratulations!! That is my next card I am shooting for I am currently around the 580-595 area and i have 13 collections and 11 are medical that i am currently working on. I have 2 pendng to drop as i paid them. I am hoping to have some good news as you do in the future. I stop trying for Bank of America. my goal is to work on 1 collection at least every 2 months since some of mine are 50-170. I just have one that is 4500.00 that may be the last one there.
Congratulations on your journey!
Congrats!
