Chase Freedom finally suckered me in.

I bought a new home not too long ago (with a mortgage) , and while I have never really thought Chase was all that, I finally apped for the Freedom card because of the Lowes 5%. I need to get a lot of things done and the Lowes 5% will be easy to max out. I already get an extra 10% at Lowes so this bumps my next $1500 worth of purchases to 15%. Instant approval with a modest $9k limit.

They have been hammering me with mailers ever since I opted back in on the credit reports, my EX score is 740 so I knew i'd get approved although I did get approved with 5 inquries on record if that helps anyone. I will now finally kick Barclays to the curb, though I think I have an unique card from them because of how the account works. I originally got the Direct TV Visa, which allowed me to charge my way into a free Sunday Ticket, but the card was cancelled and now I have a Barclays Reward Visa, and it seems all these other cards are MC. Oh well. I've been closing a lot of accounts lately, I have too much credit for my needs as it is.

Apologize if this thread should of been posted in the other forum, but I had a few extra details I thought it might be related.

Re: Chase Freedom finally suckered me in.

Thank you guys (and gals Smiley Happy )

I'm not a big fan of gadget percentage groups like this, but with the $100 and the $25 dollar AU bonus, it's an easy $200 score for $1500 worth of charges I would of made anyway. $200 on $1500 is over 13% CB  and hard to resist. I can always cancel the card after the bonus period or let it sit until something else comes up.

Didn't know about the Discover card CB, not sure I want to go down that road but 5% is a nice bonus when you are looking at spending money and getting something back at the same time it's a win.
