Hey myFICO family! 🥭
I didn't see this one coming
At the time of my Delta Platinum approval, I was more than content with the cards I had, and most categories were well covered, considering most household spend doesn't go on my cards anyways. The Fidelity and Apple Card work well for non-category spend (most places have Apple Pay these days), and the Delta Platinum SUB (90k, approval thread here!) and upcoming companion certificates have made/will make the card worthwhile.
That was until Chase unveiled a new referral offer on the Sapphire Preferred for 80k points + 15k to the referrer (mid-late April). This was right before the public offer had increased, and with international travel right around the corner, it just made sense. DGM referred me through her Sapphire, and I applied with fingers crossed..
I was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred for $6,000 at 27.74%!
With my relatively short credit history (1 year 1 mo. at time of application), and only one revolving account (my Apple Card) with a limit over $5,000, I doubted if the application would be approved, especially considering I also don't have a Chase Banking relationship (though I'm not sure how much it would have contributed to a lending decision). I called in to have the card expedited, and was able to use it well these past few weeks, with 80k bonus points credited to my account already.
Interestingly, Chase pulled Experian with a 759 F8, with 1 hard inquiry to date (AmEx), instead of the "double pull" I had read about earlier. It's been over a month since the card was approved and I haven't seen any other inquiry alerts, so I assume that's the only one they pulled.
With this approval, I'm at 4/24, and my total credit has hit $17,000. Utilization at 0%, AOoA at 1 yr, 3 mo., and AAoA is at 7 mo, with a Clean/Thick/Young/New-Revolver scorecard. Thank you all so, so much for all the knowledge, and any further advice is always appreciated! 🥐
Oh, and I chronicled some experiences (and new learnings, with great thanks to those who replied ) using the CSP overseas here if you wanted a read: CSP Overseas - A Chip and Pin Saga.
@Mones - I read your reply to an earlier thread reg. a possible application for a Chase VS, these DP's may be helpful?
@everest Thanks for the link to your thread! Yep, I can tell we have a VERY similar credit profile with the Clean/Thick/Young/New-Revolver scorecard. I just have more cards although luckily the Blue Cash Preferred won't be reporting until next month. This along with the other thread I was viewed today gives me hope for a United Explorer approval very soon
I'll be sure to keep you posted on it if you'd like. I have a banking relationship with Chase with a decent amount of savings (into 5 figures) so it should be enough to cover another Chase card even as a security with Chase.
Congratulations on your Approval 🥳
And massive congrats on your new Chase card! (Along with the Delta Platinum and Apple CLI just a few months ago). There seems to be a lot of action in the first year of credit building but we're both doing great!
Nice SL and approval, congratulations!
Congrats on your approval! One day I hope to be able to enjoy some of those Chase card benefits. I just have to ban myself from the approval threads here first for awhile. LOL. Congrats again!
Congratulations on your CSP New Approval
Big grats to your sapphire preferred approval
congrats on the Sapphire Preferred approval!
