I'd say I'm pretty new to credit, but I had some success getting the cards I actually want.
Last thursday I applied for a Chase Freedom, and yesterday I applied for a CSP. Both of them came up pending so I called the backdoor number given here. I was told that I had been denied the CSP, and I told the man I wanted to use these 2 cards as my everyday cards. He said he would make a note that I wanted to use Chase as my primary bank and put me on hold. When he returned he told me I had been approved for the CSP with a $5,000 limit.
The freedom was pending, and he asked me a couple of questions regarding the application. Then I was put me on hold, and when he returned he said I was approved with a limit of $4,000.
I should be receiving the cards within 7-10 days.
I guess I just wanted to share because I usually take no for an answer and don't ask if there is anything else they can do for me. Thanks for the tips and tricks.
Edit:
Sorry, you guys probably wanted to know my situation before applying.
I only know my TU score before applying was 745.
Auto loan outstanding balance - 12,500 - 4/13
AMEX BCE 4/13 - 6,900 - Utilization $0
Chase Slate 4/14 - 3,500 - Utilization $2,400
I don't have any late payments or bad stuff like that ever. But I don't really have a "thick file" I also have always paid in full, and have never carried a balance.
Basically that's it. I'm 27 years old, and graduated college finally in May 2013. Started the grind at the "real job" in September 2013. Just trying to get life started I guess.
Nice, Congrats!
Interesting... I opened a CHASE checking account and went ahead and app'd for the CS. I was approved but asked if I could product change to the CSP and he said it would require another HP. -_-
Chase is great for recons and Freedom + CSP make a great combo.
If you call back in tomorrow and ask nicely, they will expidite delivery and you should recieve your new cards in 2 business days via UPS.
Congrats on your approvals!!
@gizmo - hmm that's interesting, and I have no idea how they determine what is easy to PC or not. Do you think the CSP would benefit you more?
@wac - Thanks for the advice! I didn't know they would ship it faster if you asked.
This would be a huge plus because I am going on vacation for labor day weekend and they would really come in handy.
@chunky, yeah I do actually. Im in recruiting and marketing for the organization I work for and travel a good bit, so I think it would benefit me a bit.
