Hello there.
I am new to this forum and just wanted to let everyone know that it has helped me a lot in understanding the credit scoring scenario, and then applying it to my advantage.
I and 28 and came to the US a little over a year ago. Starting from scratch was a little hard in the beginning with all the 'Credit' hungry banks and apartments and credit card companies, which meant that I was left with only a Capital One secured card to start with. I just stumbled upon this forum and started to read regularly to get a better grip of what really are the basics behiind the credit scoring system, the factors which influence it, and the easiest ways in which I could literally "blow" it all away.
The best virtue that I learnt from it was to be patient. I worked with my Cap 1 secured MC for more than 6 months with a CL of 450. Long story short, in the last 2 weeks I have got a Chase Freedom with a CL of 3000, Discover IT with CL 750, and a Macy's cars with a CL 800, in addition to a best buy card (CL 1200) which I got a few months earlier. Even though the CL on the cards is not too high, but I take comfort from the fact that till now I have had no denials on any of my app.
I plan for no more app this year. My cyrrent scores are EX- 704, TU- 691, EQ-??.
I just want to say thanks to all the people who have helped countless novices like me.
Any inputs are welcome.
CHEERS!!!

Thanks. And indeed, patience is THE key. Hard to develop, harder to nurture. But it definitely rewards you.
