Hey all,
I made a post in the Credit Card forums looking for advice on what Chase card to get to have some wiggle room on the SL and move 1k to my Freedom card and another 1k to my AARP card. I didn't get a lot of encouraging feedback but figured what could it hurt to try. So I applied for the UnitedPlus card on Sat with a 50k mileage offer from my United FF login.
Got the 7-10 day message when I applied and immediately got a 30-day email. I periodically checked my Chase Accounts and became BFFs with the Chase Robot Automated credit card application status number. I'd typically check once in the morning and again in the evening. I knew it'd be a bad idea, regardless of how impatient I was, to involve a human in the process. So I just let the application play its course.
I logged into Chase this morning and didn't see any update. I got home tonight and logged in Chase for another reason, to check when the payment on my AARP card was due and noticed the scroll bar looked like it had more room to scroll down, so I excitedly scroll down and see...
Wow! I was hoping for like 7k, again 5k to keep the card and 1k to bump my Freedom to 5k and another 1k to bump my AARP to 5k. My Freedom is over a year old (opened in Nov 14) and my AARP card is from Aug 15, again the goal was to get those cards to 5k so eventually, I could convert them into Visa Signatures. Why you might ask, because lol. No reason other than I can.
So I called up the application status and got an overseas rep on the line. I wanted to see if he could expedite the card and also if he could move the limits around, he was able to do both and pretty painlessly.
Feeling on a roll, I gave the number on the back of my Freedom card a call and got another overseas rep. I ask if she could convert my Freedom to a Visa Signature card especially now that it's over $5,000. She said she wasn't able to and when I asked why she put me on a brief hold. She came back a couple minutes later and gave me a very vague answer that it might have something to do with my credit history. No worries I tell her, hang up and quickly shoot Chase an SM asking for the same thing. Worst case if they can't over SM, I'll dig around on Google and find an EO email.
I'm pretty stoked because this card tied the highest SL I've ever gotten, my Venture back in Aug 2015 also had an SL of 15k ![]()
