I got approved for a Citi DCB last week and the card arrive today with 1.7K limit. I was hoping for a higher limit because of the 15 months 0% transfer for some higher interest rates cards I have as well as using this to replace my AMEX PRG card which I spend about 3.5k and PIF each month. I hit the luv button and asked for about 20k just to see and was denied. I tried calling the CSR line to reconsider but didn't really get anywhere. Should I go to the EO line or is there another option I should try first for a recon?
Thanks
Congrats on the approval!
If it were me, I would call the CSR first and when they answer ask them to please connect you with a credit analyst. Once talking with a credit analyst I would tell them your situation that you are considering a balance transfer and your current limit would not be enough. Then ask them if they could please review your report that was just pulled for the app for a CLI. I don't believe they have a credit analyst number to call directly. Hope this helps.
Again, this is what I would do . . . GOOD LUCK!!
Thanks for the tip. I initially called what I thought was a recon line and got the application line. Then they transferred me over to the card CSR and I was told I need to wait 7-10 days to find out the reason, pay your bills on time, establish a good credit history, etc. I'll call again during the week and ask to speak to a credit analyst and if that doesnt work I'll try the EO as a last resort. I have an AA card with them so I'm hoping that will be hopeful. Thanks Charleston_Credit_Guy!
You're very welcome! Keep us posted on the outcome. Best of luck!
Congrats...
I called the CSR line again this morning asking for a credit analyst and sort of got the run around again. I then found a number for the EO and finally was able to plead my case. They were very nice and very professional and told me they would need have an EO credit analyst review my request and I should hear back from them by Wednesday. I hated going up to the EO but I just felt like the CSR just either didn't understand my request or simply didn't want to transfer me over. Either way it was a nice change from the initial phones call on Saturday and this morning. I'll keep you posted on whether or not the recon actually worked.
Looks like you're at least headed in the right direction - keep us posted. Good Luck!

And will happen a lot with mostly zero results everytime.
Don't frown on dialing in to the EO channels.
They are well equipped to make the decisions that the CSR's simply are not.
Grats on your Citi approval
Well today I logged in and they nearly doubled me up to 3.5k so I'll take it for now. I'd love more but I'm getting the amount the I would normally PIF on my AMEX so I'll work with that. I've had a few balance transfer offers come in on my other cards so I may spread the high interest balances over those cards while I'm chipping away the rest of my CC Debt. Thanks for all your help and yes persistence does pay off!
