Re: Citibank Diamond Preferred Card Denial - Recon???

Congratulations on the recon to push thru an approval! Albeit it seems was eeked out given the low SL.

It will normally cost another HP should you decide to press your luck further. It's been my experience over the years with Citicards a toss up with their U/W department. If your determined to chance it anyway hope you success.

Re: Citibank Diamond Preferred Card Denial - Recon???

Thank you @CreditMagic7  Also, seems like their CLI requests are a HP every time. While i am glad to get a approval, seems like a long road to build from $500. My Discover is at 6500, DCU 5000, Penfed, 15000 recently. So $500 seems bit demotivating.

I like to add that traditionally the Diamond Preferred Card by Citi was long tauted as a BT card but equally traditional was low SL's on that very card. It's almost like Citi exhibits little interest in it in comparison to their other mainline cards. Your current limit stats seem to have a solid up and increasing profile of nice one's. So i for one certainly can relate to the backward shock of getting approved but at their absolute lowest SL metric they use.

I would reach out and ask if that particular card is eligible later for a product change and if so that might be the best case scenario. Even if so i think it takes 6 months tops but things might have changed by now. I'm for sure your not interested in babying a toy limit card that long but it's the position that you find yourself in another 6 months or so. OR if Citicard has any other options for you. I doubt you wanna burn yet another HP to try and have that SL raised but that's your decision. Either way i would call them and see if that card is eligible later for a product change and take it from there. Sometimes we get hemmed in with unexpected results like that. If it's any consolation your IN with Citi.

I PC'd a Citi Diamond to a 2nd Double Cash card a while back, so it used to be an option.

I kinda regret not PC'ing it to a Citi Dividend card, when I had the chance to do so.Smiley Indifferent

Hi,

My credit scores are EQ - 765, TU - 711, EX - 698. Applied for Citi Diamond Preferred card and got denied. Got the reason today "Too many inquireis in the recent months". Is there a Recon number i can call? Are there any chances for them to budge?

Oh what a drag that initially it was a denial. And congratulations on pulling a card from them to warrant that HP and the ding it'll be to your score. $500 SL may feel quite low. What @CreditMagic7  said about work it towards a CP later perhaps.

Still, since the CSR on the Backdoor number said they may be able to give you a higher limit when you activate it on this same HP, surely it's worth asking. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Congratulations. Good luck. And TY for your DP's.
