Congratulations on your AmEx Delta Gold approval
Congrats on the approval! And indeed, $1k is a "borderline" approval, which can still grow, but it'll take a little longer.
Congrats on your approval. With responsible usage and as your profile strengthens, Amex will hopefully open up the doors to you. Good luck growing the card!!!
Congratulations on your Amex approval!
Congrats on your approval!!!, I just got in the door with Amex as well, same card back in Feburary w/ a 1K SL, Had a FICO of 660 EX. The only relationship I had with Amex at the time was an AU - Everyday card 14.3K CL.
One thing I found interesting was that under the "Check for pre approved offers" page it showed nothing but, When I applied for the gold card it was a pre(selected/approved), I forget what verbage they used, but from a "Check for personalized welcome offers" page.

Congrats on you all for getting in the door with your approvals..
They will grow in time. When I got approved in 2016 I had a BK reporting ( still do ) . I was shocked and an entirely different story that I posted here years ago. Since opening the account I used it like a debit card from a candy bar to large purchases. I would swipe and pay and took full advantage of their "pay it" feature on their app to keep my balance low . My SL was 2k. Anyway, All that swiping not only paid off in miles but I have received numerous CLI's and just yesterday, my first requested CLI was approved from 16.5k to 20k.
You're in the door. Don't worry about the low CLI. Just nurture the account and you'll be fine. Congrats again!
Congrats!!!

- Somehow completely forgot I already tried applying, and tried again last week. Was instantly approved for a humble $1000SL. Accepted, and they hard pulled EX 643 & TU (unknown).
- The card arrived a day after the denial letter from the first attempt.
I wasn't planning to apply for Amex (right now). I just can't resist a SP "guaranteed approval," and Amex was a goal company to get in the door with "eventually" after my derogs fell off.
(Plus at the time I applied, I was still considering the Brightway+ [Onemain] card offer I hadn't yet shredded)
While I wish the SL was higher, I'm glad I *barely* squeaked in now rather than starting my relationship a few years from now. Totally worth the 2 inquiries and the loud balloon rubbing noise.
I read the low SL as a "let's see what happens"/"we're keeping our eye on you" thing. I'm happy they gave me the chance to prove myself again even with the bad stuff still on my report.
DPs:
-UTIL: <1%
-Income: $60K
-Baddies: 4 settled revolving accounts from >2 years ago, 2017 chargeoff with Discover and 2017 car repo. 1 dumb accidental 60 day late on Macy's in 2021.
-No prior products or relationship with Amex
-AAoA: 8 yrs
-Loans: $4K student loans remaining
-HP: EX & TU once accepted
-Score at time of Denial: 640
-Score at time of Approval: 643
Now that's what I call a close encounter.
Very inspirational. Thank you for posting your DPs.
I attempted a pre-qualification and was denied based on a 650s score. Will try again once North of 680 Experian. BTW your file is similar to mine. I have two unpaid 5 year old charged off accounts. One is a Honda repo vehicle the other is a Chase Freedom credit card.
Would truly love to get in with American Express.
That's awesome! Your scores are right around where mine are and your confidence gives me confidence lol. A $1,000 SL is not bad at all. The best part is that you are literally in the club now and an Amex holder. Those limits from what I've seen on here grow nicely. Congrats are definitely in order here!!
