Delta Gold AMEX

Cold apped about a month ago but my experian went up to 640 so I figured I would check the preapprovals.

Delta Gold popped up with the 35k mile $1000 spend offer and thought why not.

Only got 1k to start but figured it would grow in time.

Re: Delta Gold AMEX

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, i'm assuming the cold app last month resulted in a denial- what were the reasons listed in the response for AMEX for the denial? Specifically credit score?

FICO 8 (Feb 2018):EX- 519, TU- 530, EQ- 545
FICO 8 (Sept 2022):EX- 706, TU- 685, EQ- 684
What's in my wallet:

Re: Delta Gold AMEX

It was a denial but my balances were too high and I just opened 3 new lines of credit.

My score was also 632 at the time but all my cards were paid down with only 5% on one

Congrats, M!

How often do folks typically check the preapprovals? Or, does anyone know how often they update?

Re: Delta Gold AMEX

I have had this card for about three months.  The first month I didnt use it, the second month, maybe 700.00 through it.  This month, I have put about 6-7k through it.  So, I used the spending power button, and didnt have enough to cover a purchase, but it prompted me to call the number on the back of the card.  It was suggested that I make a payment, and then charge the amount I asked for.  I then paid the card off the next day since the system didnt want to take two payments in one day.  Smiley Happy   It is an interesting system they have going on, but if you run into problems with limits, they will work with you.  That spending power button does increase with monthly usage.  However, and this is a big one, I have heard around the forums that it is not a good idea to use that spending power button and not make a purchase.  It is to be used ONLY when you want to make a purchase.  It flags your account for a financial review, or something else horrible.  Amex comes to your house with various household cleaning products and tortures you with them.  Something like that.

Enjoy your new card!!!
