I had something similar myself. I had a discover card for 4 years now and it's still my smallest card, $3,050. After asking for CLIs many times they had me do the same form. Meanwhile all my other cards are 10-24k CL. I'd like to get rid of it but I hate the idea of closing my oldest account...
Congrats on Discover and S&G success!

A couple of Sundays ago, I went for it again just for S&G expecting another denial. Surprisingly, they offered a $7k CLI. That put me at $28.5k. YAY!
But then, the very next day, I get a voicemail from Discover, which I thought was a scam because it was an automated voice message that sounded very fishy, so I ignored it. A little later, I get an email from 'echosign' saying that Discover wanted to verify some info through Equifax. Now it's getting weirder.
I ended up calling Discover to make sure someone wasn't trying to take me for an idiot. They confirmed that my account was frozen pending verification from the IRS, and they wanted my consent to get tax information. UGH!
I've had my Discover card for 6+ years and they finally decided not to believe my income information.
I told the rep that I'd think about it or might call back to close the account.
Anyway, I said f*** it and filled out the 4506-C form. Barclays also got me earlier in the year for a business card, so what's another IRS inquiry at this point...
It took them almost two weeks, but finally got an email today saying all is well and the hold was lifted so I can start using my card again.

I can't wait to get a survey
Having a discover card is very risky now-a-days to those who couldn't prove their income for credit limit that have...Too many people are now being asked for tax return request (4506-C). One never knows when Discover could ask for this form. Its extremely scary if income couldn't be verified.
Were you asked for the same tax return request (4506-T) for Barclay's business card??
Yeah Disco is not the same beast we had fun with back in 2016-2019. Ive been known to Hulk Smash alot even post Covid but no more. Just not worth the risk. Plus they took away my bt offers so now its just a rewards card with a limit and i cant really spend for rewards nowadays. Just have to live with my current limits, and to be fair , they're pretty good compared to my income.
My Discover has opened just recently...5 months ago...in March of this year....and I don't see BT offers anymore...maybe it was there when it opened but not anymore...But I don't care anyway because they have BT fees at least 3-5% which is very high for me especially when I have many cards that offer me only 1% and 2% BT fees...that's the reason I never availed BT offers with my previous Discover account that I had for 8 yrs...
And you are right that they are not worth the risk...
