In late spring of this year I finally paid off the Discover balance I carried for what felt like forever. Just in time for me to maximize the 5% dining during the summer, paying in full before each statement generated.
That got me to consider a CLI from the $2K I've had for what felt like forever. Unfortunately, each of the two online CLI requests got greeted with the sad trombone. I surmised my remaining derog, a 2015 CO, held me back.
Earlier this month TU removed the CO through EE. YAY for acronyms! (Though I made it look like one, YAY is not an acronym BTW.)
Clean TU file results. TU F8 vaults from 672 to 818. Let's try that CLI again.
This time, for no compelling reason, I requested the CLI on the phone instead of online. The representative asks me the same two questions as those asked online. I give the same two answers as I...ehhh....answered online.
Different response this time. "Look at that! You can have $4,000! If you want more, I can transfer you to another department."
"This isn't like Deal or No Deal where going for more means risking my current CLI?"
A generous courtesy chuckle. "No."
"More please."
The second representative added $500 on top, completing a $2,500 CLI.
TL;DR for those who don't want to read a post about a simple CLI that feels like it goes on for what feels like forever: Discover increased my CL from $2,000 to $4,500. *pinky flex*
