Discover IT 5500 CL with EX 665!

Hey all!!! I’ve never posted before but I have read a lot of forums I love it lol.

ANYWAY I just wanted to share my approval to give you guys with lower credit scores like me some hope!! Today I was approved for a Discover IT card with a final (I’ll explain final in a bit was orig 4000) credit limit of 5500!

So here’s the deal
Gross Annual income: 50,000
oldest account: 2Y5M
AAOA: 1Y9MO
3 credit cards with limits totaling 2350
1 car note with bal aprox 14,250
No late payments
Utilization is at 69% (before discover oc lol)
15 hard inquiries in 2 years
3 hard inquires in the last year
All 3 bureaus are pretty much the same except EX I have a 60 dollar medical bill collection from over 2 years ago GRRR
SCORES: EX 665 TU 685 EQ 637

So anyway guys I am super excited BY THE WAY here’s what happened:
1. applied for card
2. Discover requested I upload DL and SSC.
3. Called discover and was advised I was approved for 4000.
4. Did 3 BTs with rep on phone totaling 2000
5. REP STATED CONGRATS SIR LOOKS LIKE WE ALREADY INCREASED YOUR CREDIT LINE TO 5500.
6. I’m like really??

SO I WANTED TO SAY TO EVERYONE KEEP YOUR HEAD UP ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT ILL BE ONLINE FOR A WHILE.

Congrats on the new card, Did you fill up the pre qualified  before applying or you just cold app it ?

Experian matched me with the card and I applied through them. It took me directly to the discover site; I am not sure if applying through EX helped. It must have

As with any of those sites they are just marketing tools.

It's extremely difficult to try to figure out Discover's lending pattern.

I have no idea!!!

When I called he said I was approved for 4K.
I then asked about BTs he said he can initiate them now and after transferring 2k worth of balances to my other cards he said congratulations looks like we already increased your limit to 5.5k. I was super surprised.

They wanted to help keep your utilization down. Or they realized you probably wouldn't use the card If it was already half full. Lol

Haha I will say that came out of NOWHERE I couldn’t believe it!!!

Btw do you guys think there’s any difference between the discover it cash back and balance transfer cards? The only difference I can find is the 0 apr intro rates are different.

Cash back: 14 Months 0 apr on BT and purchases
Balance transfer: 18 months 0 apr and 6 months 0 apr purchases.

So 18 months from now will it just be the Discover IT?
