Hello everyone!
I'm new here (officially) but have been a lurker for some time. First, I want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences and knowledge here. This is such a great community!
Today, I got approved for a Discover It (Cashback) card with a $,9500 limit. (EEK!)
This HUGE for me as I am rebuilding after taking a huge hit in my business, I never really recovered from around 2012. I started rebuilding in November when I actually paid attention to a Capital One pre-approved offer I received in the mail.
Now, I may be getting ahead of myself but I would really like to apply for the Chase Amazon Visa (I order my whole life here, weekly, as a prime member. Dnt want the store card for obvious reasons.) and a Delta Skymiles AMEX (or any Delta rewards card as I travel monthly for business). The Jet Blue would be a great option too. I've been researching but still not quite sure what to do...so turning to you guys.
What say you community?
Here are my data points as of today w/ my approval fr Discover It:
FICO 8 Scores (CreditCheck Total):
Credit Length
Income
Credit Cards
Installment Loans
Baddies
Inquiries
The plan is to make some RE Investments in early 2019, so if I get approved for the Chase and/or AMEX...I'm plan to relocate to the garden for the rest of the year and solely focused on paying off my student loans by the end of 2018.
Congrats! That's a nice SL and should grow nicely.

Thanks! I'm excited to see where it will grow to. Hope to have at least $30k (in total credit lines) by end of year.

Congrats and nice SL ..Welcome to Discover family
COngratulations! Nice approval and SL. Great data points!!
Congratulations on the Disco approval!! Very nice SL
I would think you'd have a great shot at the Amazon and Amex
Hey all,
I realized I never dropped an update on applying for an AMEX and CHASE Amazon. So here goes:
Well, I got excited and ahead of myself and went on a mini-spree and here are the results:
**Gold Delta Amex - Approved **
SL - $1k
60k points bonus after $1k spend which I did in less than 2 months.
90+ day CLI request denied:
A few days ago I pushed the LOVE button for 3x CLI but was denied for not having enough history with them. Ironically, my daughter was approved instantly. - $1k to $3k limit. We both applied and were approved for our AMEXes on the same day but she has the blue and I have the gold. **shrugs shoulders**
**Chase Amazon - Denied**
Called recon line, but the rep said I needed more credit history for her to approve. I do have a charge off with them from 6 yrs ago. She briefly mentioned it but didn't really dwell on it. Ultimately, she said I didn't have enough history yet.
The letter in the mail states:
Your credit report reflects charge off(s) or bad debt collection(s)
Length of time since oldest credit card was opened too short
Pulled Experian; Score 663
**Amazon Store Card (Synchrony Bank) - Approved**
SL - $600
Called recon about an increase. They said they would review and notify me by mail.
Letter in mail states:
Insufficient experience at your current credit line.
I really have no use for this card as I don't get the benefits because I am not my household's prime member. My daughter is and we generally use hers (and her $1700 limit) to order and get the 5% cash back. I want to close it but want to make sure I don't take a hit for it.
**Wells Fargo - Denied**
Took a chance on this because I have bank accounts with them for personal and business. Apparently, that didn't matter, except in an attempt to use against me. Once I got the denial online, I called the recon line...and they said they would review and send a letter in the mail. I got two letters...
Letter #1 states:
Recent total daily balances in your Wells Fargo checking or savings has been too low (We look at your WF accounts as an additional factor in our decision.)
Not enough credit card accounts paid as agreed on your credit file (we look for a history of on-time payments)
The balance in your Wells Fargo checking or savings has not increased enough times in the past year. (We look at your WF accounts as an additional factor in our decision.)
Oh and they offered me the 'opportunity' to apply for a secured card with them. Right.
WF can kick rocks, they have no loyalty and that's why reason 1 and 3 is correct and will likely stay that way. If I had received the card with even a $500 limit I would have considered making them my primary bank being that I'll be looking for mortgages in 2019. But the predatory bank that they are, they, of course, want more and more without reciprocating. They had an opportunity to build a bigger relationship and didn't.
Letter #2 states: (This was for the request to recon the application.)
Accounts on CR have not been long enough. (We look for a history that shows you have managed credit over time)
Credit accounts in good standing have not been open long enough. (We look for a history that shows you have managed credit over time)
Your checking or savings account with Wells Fargo has been overdrawn. (We look at your WF accounts as an additional factor in our decision.)
My account was overdrawn ONE time with them EVER and IT WAS THEIR FAULT. I called they realized the error and corrected it...but as you see here, they are holding their error against me. I'm so over them and their BS.
Experian; Score 612 (<----HOW ??? I don't get this. According to the score they provide me via my banking accounts, at that time I was 679 or a 692 on the FICO 9 during that time. FICO 8 I was a 663. This is the weirdest thing.)
**BARCLAYS- Jet Blue Master Card - DENIED**
Called recon line...had the best rep. He told me I didn't have enough history and if I had anything else on my other reports he could review. I told him about my old Plains Commerce account that was closed in good standing but had no lates - it reports only on my EQ. Unfortunately when he went to review the system went down. We waited a few minutes and it still didn't come up. UGHHH! He seemed to really try to approve me. Anyhow, the system didn't come back up so I had to call back.
The next day, got another rep who was cool but it was a no go. She said I didn't have enough history and they like to see at least one year plus she asked about the collection on my account. I told her I was disputing it but she responded: "I don't see any disputes." Oh well.
Letter states:
* Insufficient number of credit cards
* High Balances on severely delinquent accounts
* Low credit limits on existing credit cards
* Lack of established credit history
Trans Union; Score 678
So that sums it up for my first spree. Feedback is welcome!
No mention of a Disco CLI? You've been with them 3 1/2 months now ...
Also, sounds like you should join the Navy.

No auto-increase so far - 3rd statement just closed. Am I suppose to hit the LOVE button? Also, I'm currently carrying a balance with them ($1800). Only card that I report a balance with.
