Discover IT Secured GRADUATED w/CLI! (7 statements + 5 days)

I just wanted to share with you all that my Discover IT Secured graduated this morning! I honestly didn't think I was going to graduate on this statement. I received my 7th statement on the 21st of January and now this morning (the 26th) I saw my credit limit was now $1800! I hit the luv button but no dice.

My credit rebuilding journey is feeling pretty amazing. I have a huge sense of accomplishment. I also PCed to the 5% rotating card!

Data points:

Opened June 10th 2021 (552 Vantage Score (no fico yet)) w/ $200 Deposit/Limit

Graduated January 26th 2022 (707 Experian FICO8, 735 Equifax FICO 8, 738 TU FICO 8) new CL $1800

No missed payments, always PIF soon as balance posted

I initially tried to open a CreditOne card to go with it but soon after I was approved for that -- CapitalOne approved me for a $500 SavorOne which I then cancelled the CreditOne card as I didn't want an AF and the other terrible fees.

Anyways I think I'm set for awhile I want to garden for another 6 months or so before I add anything else to the collection.

I managed my credit terribly when I was 18. I never understood it. I thought it was just easy money to spend that I didn't have. Now I treat my CCs like a debit card and dont really spend what I don't have although now I may just put my SteamDeck on this as a congrats gift (DONT WORRY I HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT Smiley Happy )

Feels good to be on the right track. Thanks Discover!

Congrats! Whatever you did in the past, it sounds like you have the right mindset for managing credit in the future.

If you don't mind me asking, were you unscorable because all the bad stuff had fallen off your reports, or because you hadn't had anything reporting in a while? I'm curious if those low to mid 700 scores are from the new cards, or if there's something else in there propping them up a bit.

Yes everything except 1 charge off from CapitalOne was gone and I did a pay for delete. So basically started with a fresh report.

Congrats on the graduation! I've been trying the luv button a few days after each statement since graduation in November, nothing yet but I'll keep trying!
