I have had my Discover It for several years now and have been able to get decent increases.
I went back to look at an old post of mine from a few years ago and it stated that you can hit the love button and they will do a SP for increases. IF they need to do a HP, they will ask permission first and you can decided to decline it if you don't want a HP.
My last increase was 3 months ago and I decided tonight that I would give it another shot. My CL is $15,200 at the moment. I hit the love button and got a message that they would need to review and would probably have an answer in 2 days.
So please tell me they didn't go ahead with a HP without asking me?? I haven't seen it done like this before. It was either a simple yes or no in the past. Now I'm really worried because I don't want a HP on it. Any thoughts?
I also did a search on here to see if there was anything else I could find on it, but all the threads are older and closed. I did see someone mention that possibly anything over $15 requires you to send in verification before approval? Is this the case? Is this what might have happened since my limit is already over the $15k?
How often can you ask for an increase? Did I do it too soon?
Thanks in advance.
Mine says "After reviewing your application, we may need to pull a credit bureau report, which may affect your credit score. In these cases, we will proceed with the application only with your consent." on the CLI Request page. Sounds like you're fine.
I did the same thing. I was assured it was a soft pull. I got a $900 CLI which raises my card to 2700. It's a low limit but I use it a lot for basic stuff and pay it off immediately after using it. It is my final card (I am 54). I have had it 6 months and signed an opt-out form on-line after getting it in June. Discover denied my mail offer but countered me with a high-interest rate small CL card. The 5% and double cash back is why I use it. I have had two manual CLI's and one auto since getting the 1K starting limit. Score in the 685-705 range. I have 6 other cards with over $30K available credit plus an AMEX gold senior card. I keep a zero balance most of the time.

It's a soft pull.
And the 1-2 day answer usually indicates you will be getting a nice CLI shortly.

Yes, mine said something like that and it also said they would have an answer for me in 2 days.
So when you posted that "saying" does that mean that I'm fine when it says that or wouldn't be fine if it said that?
I remember thinking, well that sure isn't asking me if I approve for a HP. ![]()
Check your Discover CL on Tuesday, on line.
Good luck!
When I request a CLI, I get that message. When I log in a few days later, I usually have an increase. I don't get the slider screen anymore. I'm up to $40K now. That's pretty mind boggling to me. I wonder how high it will go?

Probably not an HP but I can't guarantee it either way. One HP will have a small impact unless you have a thin and/or poor credit profile so you don't need to sweat it out over a single hard pull.

Not in my experience. I'm over $20K. That said, income verification can be triggered for other reasons -- with any creditor.

No idea. Discover seems to vary on timeframes for CLI request eligbility. What you qualify for (what will determine if you get a CLI and how much) is an entirely separate matter and depends on your credit and income -- not the timing of your request.
