Hi all! I am new to posting, although I've been reading the forums for the past year or so while rebuilding and getting my credit sorted out and back on track. During the past year, I've cleared 3 baddies from my CR and finally been able to score some decent cards. It was a long road getting back but I'm thinking I'm finally there. I only had 4 store cards from years ago, oldest was 11 years.
I was able to start rebuilding last January with a pair of Capital One cards which I handled with care and built up over time. Still so thankful they let me in the door and helped me move ahead. My $500 SLs grew up to 4000 each by the beginning of this year, at which time I combined and now have a decent little QS. This gave me the confidence to apply for a Chase Freedom mid January. I wanted to get this card for the 5% categories and also to have a Visa in the mix. They were kind enough to extend 4000 right off the bat, which to me was huge after the previous SLs a year before!
Since then I've wanted to add one more good card to the mix before retreating to the garden. I knew that the Discover offers 5% as well as double cash back after a year, on top of the Discover Deals so that sounded like a really good card to grab. I have mulled on this decision and read so many posts this past couple weeks but was afraid to jump because of so many mixed results of approvals. Finally tonight I couldn't stand it anymore.. I filled out my app, hit the button and closed my eyes lol. Much to my surprise, I was approved for 7500! I was so shocked I could've fallen off the chair.
I just wanted to share my excitement with someone and I know you folks understand so here I am! Also I wanted to add a few data points for anyone that it may help.
My EQ FICO is 715, AAoA 6.5 yrs, 2 inquiries, 6 credit cards, 1 satisfied judgment 5 years old. I used the find my offer page and pulled up an apr range of 13.49-16.49. The top of the page stated "personalized offer" and showed what looked like a light blue card. I am unsure as of yet who they pulled but can update later if needed.
So glad to be here, and thanks for all the great info you all have shared here, it is much appreciated!
Good Job ![]()
