I read on here that three cards reporting is vastly superior to only two, so I opted to apply for the Discover it Secured card. I wanted to be sure I'd be approved if I was going to use a hard pull, and in 6-12 months, I should have my deposit refunded and have the card upgraded to an unsecured card.
I also read that they mostly pull Equifax, so I figured that would be good, it would keep my Experian at 2 inquiries so when I'm ready to app at AMEX, it would look good. Well, they pulled Experian, so there goes that plan. Oh well.
I deposited $400, because I plan on keeping the usage low and having a $0 balance come statement time.
I got dinged 3 points for the inquiry, but in the long haul, three cards and a line of credit should help more than hurt.
