So as one of my employers transition to remote work and the other passed around paperwork that basically said we are essential to keep the world from falling apart...further, I decided to hit up my banks for APR reductions. Now I started with Citi since I heard that they were the most negotiable and while my last statement said ~22% the rep said it was ~20% already and after taking a peak into their basket of tricks pulled out ~14%. Not a bad deal although they can jack it up later. Then I went to Discover who then in short order told me there was no offers. A day or two later I filed a CLi and it came back to take a hike. Ok I see I am not wanted and went to FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha). On the call FNBO said they do not negotiate purchase APR's. Clearly they have no clue what is happening in the rest of the country. Since I would have to call anyway I decided to retaliate with a SP CLi right then and there. Well that was a mistake as they got the last laugh, approved +$5,000.
Citi(Long Wait 1h-1.5h, Off-peak): APR reduced ~20->~14
Discover(Medium Wait): Denied
FNBO(Short Wait): APR reduction Denied, CLi Approved.....$9,200->$14,200
Congrats on the APR reduction and the CLI.
