Soooo I got a bit miffed after AmEx denied me a CLI after 6 years, decent spend, 0$ balance. Stuck at my 4K starting limit. Hmmpph.
Got a mailer for the Fidelity Visa Platinum over the weekend. Was just irritated enough to apply. I'll show them! Auto approved with a $9,500 starting limit. Not some of those great 25K starting limits I've seen, but not nothing either. They asked me on the app if I'd be interested in a balance transfer (0% for 18 months, Balance transfer fee 3%) I indicated "Why yes please, that would be lovely" to the tune of 8K, which I suspect influenced the starting limit. 10 year checking, savings, business checking, business card, and auto loan history with them. Self employed, which most lenders don't love. Have a bit of credit card debt due to some life things, which I've been paying down consistently. They pulled TU, but I'm not sure which flavor. Other datapoints:
TU 8 score: 737
Inquiries: 0 (until today)
Income: 92K
Length of Credit (with TU specifically) 17 years

Thank you, and that is the plan! This one and NFCU will become my daily drivers. They reward loyalty and good behavior. To the sock drawer with AmEx.
