I just wanted to share that I'm finally approved for my first Amex -- Cash Magnet. I've applied for different Amex cards for years and most recently on March 2 and was denied. My credit score went up 60 points to 690 since then so I figure why not apply again. On March 18, I did the prequalifier and the Cash Magnet was one of the cards being offered. I submitted my app and this time the email that I received looks different from the previous denials. The email states, "

Here’s what happened: We received an application for American Express Cash Magnet® Card. We're currently reviewing your request, but before we can finish, we need more information. We need more information about you. |
So I called them right away and the representative just told me that she needs to call me back on my cellphone to verify that I'm the right person. After she called me back, she told me that the application will be reviewed and it will take 7-10 days to get an answer. However, she asked me if I wanted her to expedite the application instead, so I said sure and she said it's going to take 10 seconds. I was thinking this is another denial, but she said that I'm approved for $1,000. I was really surprised!
I'm not sure what happened there because the last amex application before this was less than a month ago and another application for Delta and Green card were submitted after this approval were all denied. Is this some kind of glitch or something? I just don't want Amex to take it back or close the account.
My Cash Magnet card should be arriving today via UPS.
