You could go to the various credit card company websites and use their Pre-Qual system to see if you're pre-qualified for any cards. Forget about Bank of America, though. Theirs is useless. You could put in "Fred Flinstone" and enter any random SSN and it will come up pre-qualified. But I think Chase, Citibank, Capital One, US Bank and American Express are all pretty accurate. I'm betting the Platinum comes up under the Cap1 site.
BTW, these pre-qual checks won't affect your scores. They are soft pulls.
@Anonymous wrote:Or should I wait to apply for a couple of months since I just got the Cap One and Discovery Cards - (literally only got them like 2 weeks ago)??? I want as much time to go by as possible after the HPs before I look for a mortgage next summer...If I can get my scores where they need to be.
That's not a bad idea. If your Cap1 jumps at the three month mark, you'll see your score improve quickly. I don't have a Discover, so I don't know how quickly they grow. But if you focus on the cards you have, I think you'll be surprised how quickly your scores go up. I know I was. I've only been in rebuilding since earlier this year, and I've gone up nearly 100 points.
Congratulations ! I had to start over after a BK 7 was discharged in Jan 2014. I got Cap 1 Journey card and Quicksilver 1, 2week from each other. Cap 1 platinum would be a good choice too. You're too soon to try for a Barclay card. They want at least 6 months of solid pay history from other cards first. I got a Barclay rewards card 6 months of good history with my Cap 1 cards.
Congrats!!
Congrats!!!

If you don't have any store Card at all you can try one SCT. I have seen some 590 602 get those comenity cards. You should be qualified for one or two, just don't do 24.
One thing that is kind of like a double edged sword is the comenity cards I have, as soon as I bought something it generated a statement within 2-3 days so that's actually a month reporting in your favor. some members on here will argue that's a terrible thing. I say its good head start for history
OK - sounding silly here - what is SCT? I thought about a store card - but wasn't sure if I should do that or get another 'bank' card
(Yea I love that post on the 24 cards - cracked me up totally)
> i want yo to google (shopping cart trick) click on the 1st line.. <> Read all the info from the doctor of credit! > DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL YOU READ! > do not cold appfor anything! I want you to to go to JCREW.COM and do the shopping cart trick.. then i'll tell you how to get Overstock.com then Barneys!.. you can grow those cards to tens of thousands! without going into debt!
