Thanks, Wade.
For purposes of sharing, checked my CR yesterday and found that GECRB had in fact done a HP even after being told repeatedly that they would not. Not sure if it was because of the type of card or the age of my account. Nonetheless, I called GECRB this morning to discuss and when transferred to a supervisor (Mica) she informed me that she would send a letter to EX and have the pull removed. I asked if there would be a change to my CL because the INQ was removed and she said they wouldn't touch the CL. Guess I'll have to watch this one, but 30-60 days from now it should be clear. Didn't want anyone else to get caught the same way.
Know this is a little old, but wanted to providing an update to this. About 3 days short of the 60 day period provided for removal of the HP for this CLI and it is still there. Called customer support and after getting handed off a few times reached someone that was a bit of help. My real question was whether or not the actual memo/notification had been sent as I was told. She checked whatever system she had and replied that it had been sent and she would actually send it again. She also informed me that the correct timeframe for adjustments to credit issues was 30-60 days to send the request and 30 more days for the CRB to action that request, so a total of 90 days. She then decided to politely inform me that all credit/checking companies do hard pulls for CLIs. I said, excuse me can you repeat what you just said. She replied all credit card/checking account companies do hard pulls when requesting changes (limits/APRs) to their accounts.
Only insurance companies do soft inquiries on credit information. Normally a pretty laid back guy, but I had to ensure she understood that the information she was giving was completely inaccurate. She then modified her statement to most not all. I told her that I understood what she was trying to say and that I verified several times before requesting the CLI. Anyway, I told her thanks for her time and that I would check back at the end of June if nothing had changed on my credit report. What a morning it's been.
