So I went into a Generations branch the other day after receiving notice that my online application for membership needed some more info. While there, I talked with someone about auto loans for a purchase I'd like to make in 3-6 months. They HPed TU (told me it would be a SP...
) and we discussed rates I was eligible for on auto loans. Went on my merry way having opened a share account.
Yesterday, I received notice from my credit monitoring service that I had been HPed, so today I called them up and asked if they could at the very least use the same HP for a credit card. The rep I spoke with said yes, they hold onto them for 90 days, so he submitted my app requesting a limit of $2,000. (I have one secured card from USAA and two unsecured cards from Capital One totaling $1.5k at the moment.) He said the underwriters would take a look at it and I'd get a call within 45 minutes or so.
45 minutes or so later, I was walking through the park and my phone rings, and, while I wasn't approved for the full $2,000, they approved me for $1,000 instead--still my first four-figure tradeline since beginning my rebuild process a little over two years ago. I'll take it! (And, at 14.49% APR, the best rate out of my unsecured CCs.)
Congrats on your new card ![]()

Congrats on the new card!
Not cool that they did a hard rather than soft pull though, you can try calling the branch and ask them if they can recode the inquiry to a soft one as you didn't agree to have a hard pull done on you.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks everyone. I'm not terribly concerned about the HP so I don't think I'll make a big fuss about it. Hopefully can use this as leverage for Cap1 to up my limits a few bucks.
