I joined GreenState in Iowa from Minnesota and their loan products and credit cards are unfortunately geofenced to a few states in the MidWest.
You must be a full time resident of Illinos, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, or Wisconsin to qualify for loan products at GreenState Credit Union. By proceeding, you acknowledge residing in one of these states.
I proceeded to apply for a card but as it turns it, their application does a soft pull for a credit card prequalification before you proceed to formally apply, and I had no idea how solid it is. It ended up coming back as prequalified for $15,000. Anyways, I have a 7 year fraud alert on my credit reports and she called and verified it was me that applied for a credit card and immediately said afterwards that she was able to approve me for the full amount of $15,000. She mentioned nothing about paystubs so when she asked me if I had any questions, I specifically asked if she needed proof of income or paystubs and she told me nope! They were able to approve me without them.
They pulled TransUnion. Don't know my exact score but it's around 700. 9 inquiries in the past 24 months, 5 of those in the past year. Prior to this, one new card in the past 6 months and three new cards in the past 12 months. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy filied in September 2020 and Discharged in December 2020.
Also this card has at the moment an introductory bonus of $250 cash back/25,000 bonus points when you spend $1000 within the first 60 days which is an awesome SUB for a small amount of spend of $1000.
Sweet...congrats! You think this is more than you would have gotten from a bank?

This is the biggest approval I've ever had in my life. Plus the 5% cash back on hotels I will use for sure!!!
Before this, In December 2025 I got approved for Delta Gold Amex with $8000 credit limit and just got approved for $10,000 on a Capital One T-Mobile Visa a week ago because i just switched to T-Mobile from AT&T. I wanted to apply for the GreenState before the T-Mobile Visa started reporting. Those are my two most recent credit card approvals prior to this.
I filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in September 2020 so I was anxiously & eagerly waiting for the 61+ month mark to get back into with Amex.
Congrats on the approval and great SL ! ![]()
Congrats.....I have two cards with them, one is which you have and another one is the one you are looking for...both with $20k each...I live in NYC and back in days they did allow people from anywhere nationwide to join and get cards, but they stopped it 2-3 years ago I guess....Both cards are good, and I never ever have had bad experience with this credit union. I even have a checking account with them, another one, which had 5% APR on your deposit for two years....although it was a promotional offer for the time being for two years....
Congratulations!

Yeah this is one of the only two credit unions I know of off the top of my head that are open to anyone yet geofence their credit cards. GreenState and the other is LMCU (Lake Michigan Credit Union)
That's awesome. Congrats on your approval and SL. Enjoy!

Congrats on the approval!

Congratulations on your new found liquidity!
Looks like GreenState has given you the green light. Not a bad thing to happen.
