Let's hear it for local credit unions! Just joined and apped for a credit card and personal loan. I was preapproved for both. I was only looking for a $2K loan to cover some auto repair costs and add an active installment loan to my mix. Thought I'd get that but got denied. Instead I got the credit card with a SL of $9500. That's $6K more than my next highest card, Discover at $3500.
It's a 1% cash back card, but a big step up limit-wise. No soul-less computer experience here. Traded messages, multiple phone conversations to discuss my reasons for adding this card and the limit I was looking for. Talked to reps, underwriters and loan processors. It all happened in a few hours on my day off yesterday. Had to sign paperwork and had the choice of signing electronically or swinging by and doing it in person. Got to love it. I loved it enough to open a free checking account, a member savings account, a "changeup" account that collects roundup amounts from when I use the debit card, a credit card and a small credit-builder loan.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
(only bad thing is I can't find a decent image of their credit card to add to my siggy below. Had to use a generic Mastercard.)
