How solid would a preapproval from Zales be?

I received a preapproval from Zales in my email last month, and I have gotten it 2 more times since then....How solid is a preapproval from Zales? I would like to apply for it, only because I am getting ready to purchase a piece of jewelry there for a Christmas present. I know it's Comenity, and I have a lot of Comenity cards that I have had for about 4 years, never been late on anything, no negative comments, but utilization is a little high at 33%.

My scores suck right now, but I went ahead and applied and was approved for $4000 Starting limit.
