In The Navy Fed Amex Rewards $8,400! Yes, I can put my mind at ease!

I threw caution in the wind today.

I understood incorrectly I thought I could request a credit line increase 6 months from when I got my card!  Well,  could of out wasnt the secured version. Evidentally, it's 6 months from when it became unsecured. 2 nights ago I requested a CLI, I decided to try increasing weekday I already had and didn't want to have a hardpull.  I received I have to wait to the outcome.  I have not heard or seen anything as of this post. So I am awaiting the decision.   Which will probably be a declination (i won't know until the phat lady sings)

So now I can't stop checking my emails, apps, phone, texts, etc.  I am reading My Fico, REDDIT. Google on more data points worth Navy Fed. I am now obsessed and I believe ilI earned 3 college credits reading and watching videos.  So. somewhere in my binging on everything Navy Fed, I eventually come up on that if you apply for a 2nd card with Navy Fed it typically is approved for your biggest amount!   So, I really wanted the black and sexy Flagship Card. I read those with scores in the 700's and 700's often get declined, so it's likely I won't either because still rebuilding.   I also worried NFCU wouldn't approve me for the minimum of 5k ... so 2nd choice was their Amex version credit card. I already had the secured transitioned to their unsecured Cash Rewards for 2k. I couldn't stop thinking about applying for another Navy Fed cc all day long! I have been trying to get bigger limits on my other cards plus get back with others I defaulted on... I have been trying to get back with an American Express and Discover (after burning them but I made them whole again and paid full amount)  I My credit report is not motivating them too successfully.  My thinking is if I can show bigger lines they may shorten my time in purgatory. Am I destined for Heaven or Hell?  I I need to think outside datapoints and stips on how I can shake things on my favor and try to make Disco and Amex jealous and take notice of me with bigger limits.   Hmmm do I want to take the jump?  The answer is yes but I am nervous about reversing any work I have accomplished this far.   Thought about all day....  I am like 80 percent they're after texting with their customer service person named Joshua.

Here goes... no guts no glory. I pulled out my phone and for the 50th time today I checked to see if by any outside long shot they gave me my cli ....NOPE NOTHING EITHER WAY!  So, now I go again to the prequal (not that it's known for their accuracy) But the good news is that the  tenth visit to prequal  site is still showing me that I am still prequalified for all their cards! Which is better than 8 months ago when it only offered the prequalified secured card!  I then narrow down to try to apply for the Navy Fed Amex Rewards (and not the sought after and highly desired Flagship credit card)  I am now staring at the submit button.  "Okay, Linnaea you can hit that button any day now!"... Put on those big girl panties and take that hard pull on the chin and for the MyFico Forum peeps! I figured I can always call or message for reconsideration.  My hands are shaking now and I hit that button.  I laid my phone quickly down as if it was hot  because I don't want to look at the outcome.   Very similar to a women stepping on a scale, closing our eyes! So I laid a piece a paper over my phone screen so I wouldn't be  able to see a sudden rejection! Question now is.... will it be an acceptance or a declination?

 I am so scared to look!  Time to rip off that bandaid off and in this case it's a flimsy paper  piece the decision.   Will the decision be favorable or will I have regret?

The drum roll is deafening inside my head... I quickly remove the paper, but I'm apparently in a state of shock, because I can't be seeing weekday I'm  seeing and I must be reading it wrong! I had to read it over and over and get an interpreter! BWAHHH my good friend read it to me and yes I am not seeing things and it's not a  dream.

Then this happened! I GOT AN APPROVAL.... and for more than I anticipated.   I didn't think I could hit a minimum of 5k.  But I hit that and a bit more!  Thank you God, Navy Fed and My Fico forums.   So, I did learn if I ever wanted to product change I can with no hardpull.   If my Cash Rewards can hit 5k I may do that.  I am not sure if allowed to do this Amex to Flagship one day?  Also,  this is a strange amount. Wonder if by some anomaly I will get the cli on the newly unsecured Cash Rewards also? If not ... I am still HAPPY IN MY ❤️ HEART!

congrats!!

you'll be able to PC any card (other than the secured) to the flagship provided it's been open a year and it's $5k CL or more

when my nRewards graduated, I product changed it from the CashRewards into the MoreRewards and then when I got a CLI from $2k to $6k, I product changed the MoreRewards into a Flagship.

Thank you... you actually saved me time trying to see if it could be the amex version to PC to Flagship.   However,  I am not traveling anytime soon so I'll wait a few months and see weekday happens on my next credit increase.

I'm

STILL sooo HAPPY 😃  IN MY HEART ❤️

& sooo "CITED"

@Linnaea ,

Congratulations on your approval! That's impressive!

Here is a datapoint to remember, on your one year anniversary of this card, you can call in to customer service to request a review for a lower APR, and it's a SP too. You can also ask for a CLI after 1 year!

Enjoy!
