JetBlue Plus World Elite Approval!

So I decided to apply for the JetBlue card as I can see myself using it to travel within the next year.

I already have a chase FU with a 5k CL.

I was denied at first, but then I called in to recon.

I had a BoA card that went to collection in 2013, paid off. They questioned me about it and asked a few more questions about income.

He came back and approved me for only a $750 SL.

To me that seemed kind of ridiculous as I can't really get more tickets or car rentals all within $750.

What can I do? Wait for a CLI??

At least I can say I got my foot through the door with barclay! This is my first card with them as well.

What's the AF on that card? $750 seems awfully low for their "Plus" version. I'd call back and try to recon that..

Congrats though!

Re: JetBlue Plus World Elite Approval!

The AF is $99. I called and they said that in my transunion report it doesn't show my 5000CL in it yet, and that 750 is the most I can get right now.

Will be calling back when the CL shows up

I see the 5k in my EQ, I recently got the limit increase about almost 3 weeks ago.

Re: JetBlue Plus World Elite Approval!

Congrats! I have the no-AF JetBlue card and I love it. That really sucks about the low credit limit though, hopefully you can get that raised when your 5k line shows up. I actually thought Barclays was generous, they instantly approved me with a 6k limit, and my largest limit before that was 3k. But I guess that's not normal for them.

Congrats on finally breaking that door.. The SL amount is kind of weird, will definitely hit on the Recon.

I'm afraid you just need to wait it out.  If you keep using the card and paying it down, they'll give you auto CLI's. IMHO it's worth it, because I happen to like (a) JetBlue & (b) Barclay's JetBlue card.

You could wait awhile, then apply for another Barclay card. Barclays is good about moving credit limits from one card to the other if you call one of the analyst phone numbers. E.g., you might get an NFL card with a $5k limit. Then after you have it for a month or so, call an analyst and ask to switch $4k of that to your JetBlue card. I've moved credit limits a number of times, and it's been a totally painless process. I think almost all of my $24k credit limit on the Ring card comes from other Barclay cards I've had.

You could also just go ahead and call one of the analyst numbers, and ask for a little more credit limit, so that you can use the card for trips and stuff. There's no major downside to giving it a try.

If your $5000 had been showing in TU you may have received $5500. My last two approvals were Barclay's. On the 1st one I already had a $3000 Cap1 limit and Barclay's gave me $3500. On the 2nd one, they one-upped themselves by giving me $4000. They like to outdo your highest limit, it seems. ☺

Thank you for the input.

I would wait it out, but I was already planning on buying some tickets to travel within the states within two months.

I'll most likely call at activation when I get the card, and the 5k should show up on my TU by then.

The same thing happened to me. They beat my highest CL at that point by $2k. OP, I hope they'll reconsider when your report updates. Congrats, and enjoy your card - I love mine! (:
