Just got approved for Capital One Quicksilver...$3,000 limit.

My Fico8 scores are hovering right around 600 (600-621). I have a few credit cards and a few store charge cards, but nothing great. I do have a secured Capital One Platinum card with a $1,451 limit and have had that card since 2011 (not one single credit limit increase without me upping my deposit and no offer of making the card unsecured). I keep all of my cards at near zero utilization.

I saw yesterday that Capital One can pre-qualify you with a soft pull to see if you can get  a card without risking a hard pull. I filled out the info and it said I pre-qualified for a Quicksilver card and a Platinum card. I chose the Quicksilver and applied thinking I may get lucky and get a card with a $300-500 limit. It seemed like forever while it processed and it finally came back with an approval and a credit limit of $3,000. Wow. That is the first "normal" card I've had with a "normal" credit limit since my whole credit mess began back in 2008. What a great feeling. I still have a lot of work to do to get my scores up, but it's a significant victory in my book. Now I have to figure out whether I should get rid of some of my other sub-prime cards and how that affects my AAoA and average credit limit, etc. That will be a separate post!

congratulations! i have 3 capone cards...all were platinum (ha!) and have toy limits. Two are at 300 and the other was at 300 but got a CLI to 1300 out of the blue. I sent  a chat request to C1 requesting a PC from platinum to QS and both were moved. Unfortunately, no bump in my limits on either card. Looks like I'll just close one and see if reapplying will get me a higher limit.

Thank you...I was surprised by the limit. I have a great bank card history over the past three years, but not sure my overall scores warranted the 3K limit but I'll take it!

congratulations.

from what I understand (granted I am pretty new to this) an account in good standing will report for 10 years after it is closed so it shouldnt screw up your AAoA but you may want to keep them for a little while longer and just sock drawer them for other reasons.

Re: Just got approved for Capital One Quicksilver...$3,000 limit.

I don't typically keep balances on any of my cards, so I'm not too worried about using them too much or hurting my UTI%. I think that my current credit limits will be a factor in what limits I may see when I apply for future cards, so I would like to get my overall average credit limit above 2K if I can. The 250 and 500 credit limit cards aren't helping that, so I may close them down.
