I was CH7 discharged in June 2021. In February 2022, I applied for a Suncoast Platinum Rewards and got approved for a 500.00 limit card. In October of 2022, I attempted to get a CLI and was declined (I do not recall the reason). Yesterday I went ahead and applied for a CLI again and was instantly approved for 10,000.00. My limit went from 500 to 10k; just wow! I also applied for my second BCU credit card, the Travel Rewards Visa Signature, and was instantly approved for 5k.
For being CH7 discharged right under two years, I'm certainly not doing badly. I know I applied too many times in a short span, but those cards that matter to me were approved. I can say it is undoubtedly time for some gardening. I know I won't be able to get back to Amex or Discover anytime soon, but that is okay. All the cards listed below as my "under my signature line" have been acquired since my bk was discharged in June 2021. My annual income isn't all that; around 60k, my FICO scores now are around 690-710, with many inquiries, mainly with Experian and Equifax.
My next steps are to close my Upgrade Card, Oportun, probably Mercury, and, more than likely, Mission Lane. No annual fees, and the rate is irrelevant as I pay my balances in full each month, but I have enough available credit with more desirable financial institutions now.
Congratulations on all your success!
You're doing well , congrats on your success post DC ! Garden , and garden some more and you'll be good to go !
Congratulations
Wow, that is one of the biggest percentage jumps I have ever seen.
Yes, close those aforementioned builder cards when you get a chance...
congrats on the cli
Yes, I am still baffled by such a big jump in CLI, but certainly looking at closing some of these other mediocre credit cards that no longer serve me a purpose.
My Fifth Third Bank Secured Card was just a 300.00 limit, almost two years, and no upgrade or graduation, and I will not pay another annual fee, so it is now closed.
Upgrade Card Triple Cash Rewards Visa recently lowered my limit to 2k from 5k, I guess because of the lack of use, on the chopping block for next week.
Oportun Visa, with a 1,000.00 limit and no mobile app to manage the account, will be closing next.
Mission Lane Visa was good to me, and my second card after ch7, but the limit remains at 1,600.00, and it seems pointless at this point when I have much higher limit cards.
Mercury Mastercard has a 2,900.00 limit; I'm debating whether to leave it open.
Ollo Platinum/Ally, 4,300.00 limit, I will keep it for now and see what Ally Bank does to enhance the card.
Would you close all five cards mentioned above? Or will some survive?
CONGRATS! I am coming up on 2 years post BK7 and I too have more inquiries and I would like - mainly because I have four Capital One cards and a new auto loan from December of last year. Wasn't the ideal time to buy a car but I really didn't have a choice with 154,000 miles on my other one and exhaust leaking into the cabin lol. Again, huge congrats!
Wow! Very nice CLI on the Suncoast card. Congrats on your rebuilding success!
Congrats on the massive CLI!
